webfact Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 BMA prepares for traffic management during new semester this 1st July The Nation On 29th June 2020, Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, revealed that, in the situation of an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) fixed the reopening date of the first semester of the 2020 academic year of BMA’s affiliated schools to be on 1st July 2020. Consequently, it may lead to more traffic congestion especially in the routes where large schools are located. In order to solve and alleviate problems faced by the public and parents to some extent, the BMA has collaborated with Metropolitan Police Divisions (Division 1 – 9) and prepared traffic plan during the semester. All 50 district offices will provide support staff by allocating City Law Enforcement Officers to facilitate the traffic management in front of 437 BMA’s affiliated schools as well as schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission and private schools twice a day (morning and afternoon) starting from 1st July 2020 onwards. This aims to prevent and reduce accidents and protect students, teachers, parents and the passersby for maximum safety during the rush hours. Moreover, the BMA increases measure to have City Law Enforcement Officers monitor, patrol, and pay more attention at the areas in front of schools to prevent anyone from selling goods to students in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and increase safety for students and parents. I do hope the social distancing rule was strictly observed this morning on all public transportation as school re-opened!!! Government regulations must be followed at all times!
