Honest Thailand: Cabby returns 100,000 baht to lady who left it on the back seat

Still trying to figure out why people carry such large amounts around with them.  Seems to be common however.  My Ex Mother in-law never trusted Thai banks, kept all of the money in her safe, that was inside of a bigger safe where the important documents were held.  When she wanted to purchase anything that required a large amount she had Two of the Neighbors RTP sons escort her.  Of course my ex-father in-law is a Phu Yai, and Brother in-law a RTP Lt. Colonel, so no one messes with the family.  Still I would rather trust the Banks to hold on to it, and then use a Debit card to pay for items.

Was the money declared income?

Has tax been paid on it?

Why not pay for the course using internet banking?

Why was it not inside a purse, handbag etc?

Thai Taxi needing to assure the clientele they are still around, even though tourists leaving wads behind. ( in the cabs)

And they actually asked him to point at his taxi!???? What's with the pointing sh*t?

As for the money, I would have returned it too. Only, I would have told them that on the way I tripped, fell, slipped and a teeny tiny bird came and snatched the whole thing.

I suspect that's their (really lame) approach to proofing the story: "See here, there is a taxi (in Bangkok), someone's pointing at, meaning that the story must be authentic", or (in the case that they caught a crook): "See the 18 cops pointing at the crook? They are the ones who caught him (crook being the one in the pic not in a uniform, and pointed at)." ????

Why the Thaivisa member interrogation?

What's the relevance of whether it was "declared income"?

What's the relevance of whether it was subject to tax?

"Why not pay for the course using internet banking?"

Her choice, not your business.

"Why was it not inside a purse, handbag etc?"

Maybe it was, perhaps it fell out but, again, how is the way that she carried it anyone's business but hers?

Substantial money to be carrying in cash, and risk loosing it. Seems that the questions are self explanatory , just questions which I think are interesting.

Sometimes the carriage of large amounts of cash can have a questionable history

Garbage.

She was carrying one, not particularly large, amount, she was not "involved in the carriage of large amounts of cash".

It was only 100,000 baht a little over 3K US. You make it sound like a big crime. It was substantial for the lady though.
