Crime Suppression Division police served a warrant on a 51 year old Thai man after he went on the run after being granted bail ten years ago.

Named only as "Major Arthit", the now 51 year old was named in warrants for kidnapping, assault, extortion and theft.

It is claimed that in March 2010 he took part in the kidnap of a Korean businessman who was in Thailand sorting out a golf deal with a Mr Lee and a Mr Kim.

The victim was kidnapped outside an internet shop in the Suthisan area of Bangkok and taken to a derelict house in Chang Wattana.

He was allegedly assaulted on the way.

He later managed to escape and reported the matter to Suthisan police.

Major Arthit - one of four suspects - surrendered to police but denied everything and was given bail. He said he only took the suspect to meet Mr Kim.

He jumped bail and following information received he was found to be renting a daily room at Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi where he was arrested yesterday.
