one has to be careful walking on a freeway at night, it's fraught with all kinds of dangers and especially if it's dark, and it's illegal.

What was illegal was the driver driving the wrong way.

  • The driver was black, I hear, that's going to disrupt a few potential narratives; anyway, blocking an interstate in the middle of the night, no reflective gear or what have you - what could go wrong?

really tragic sad accident .... i hope the driver makes a full recovery

  • I can't really form an opinion on this without knowing the ethnicity of the driver, protestors he hit, and the arresting officers.

Well no idiots on highway, no incident to report; you can't put brains in statues!

Correct. If the idiot driver was driving the correct way on a freeway that was closed by police this would not have happened. Which is why he was correctly charged.

I will give u a legal lesson, free of charge. Hit a pedestrian with your car and explain to the court that you didnt know it was closed and didnt know it was the wrong way. Good luck.

A driver hitting a pedestrian, no matter how wrong a pedestrian is, has a very high bar to overcome to not be guilty.

braked and skidded when he saw the people after he overtook stopped vehicles. Perhaps your driving style, but I suggest any one seeing stopped vehicles ahead on a motorway would slow down and stop, not continue driving at high speed.

Hey I got an idea, get off the <deleted> road protestors. Arrest them, be done with it. You see how this works people breaking the law, creating a hazard but it's not their fault when folks are hurt. Always blame someone else.

They make road blocks to stop cars and if the drivers do not join their crime then they damage their cars. No wonder that driver did want to slow down.

Didn't notice that before, but yeah.  Seems to be swerving right around the side-on car, then swerves left and seems to break when he gets round.

All the protesters were the other side of the vehicles and that's what he would have been looking at.  I doubt he even saw them until it was too late.

Of course, some nutcases will claim that it was all planned and he deliberately killed two people with his car (before stopping and waiting for the police).

They pretty much have to arrest the guy for something to proceed with the investigation.  Hopefully the truth will come out and it won't be some ridiculous scapegoating.

So you think him entering a closed highway on the off ramp, driving on the wrong side are immaterial?

Hope the car wasn't badly damaged.

he wasn't coming down the Ramp, but on the highway proper

If Closed, then there would have been Police cars there at the time, Lights Flashing, and proper baricades. The Police cars/flashing lights photo was after the fact...

The simulation of  a Closed road was feebly done with random civvy dark unlit vehicles haphazardly placed

Do you have any evidence of this?

Wow, we really have to tell people to not play on the freeway? Hilarious.

Why is Trump allowing all this bs? Taking over Seattle and blocking highways for 19 days....is he too scared to arrest those protestors, one might get hurt during the arrests...maybe even a black person....owwwww..

Arrest them! What are you waiting for?

It's the state's responsibility. Period. That's why each state has their own National Guard and the governor is the commander.

Sorry, but your blame Trump mantra is completely without any merit whatsoever.

As you may not be aware, the President has the power to mobilize the National Guard. All he has to do is declare a national emergency. And Trump has threatened to deploy the military if governors don't deploy their National Guard units. So what is he waiting for?

Trump threatens 'heavily armed' military deployments to quash protests if governors and mayors do not 'establish an overwhelming law-enforcement presence'

President Trump said during a statement in the Rose Garden on Monday that he is taking "immediate action” to mobilize “all available federal resources” to stop riots and looting across the country, threatening to deploy the military if states don’t send in the National Guard to protests.

"I will fight to protect you," Trump said in an evening protest, ahead of what's expected to be more protests in the city of Washington on Monday night over the death in Minnesota of George Floyd.

Immediately following the speech, in an extraordinary scene, the president and his entourage walked outside of the White House, across Lafayette Square, to St. Johns Episcopal Church, which caught on fire during the protesters the night before.

I get it. You're upset he hasn't taken the bait. You literally WANT him to activate the feds so you whine about him being a dictator. State issue.... their problem. And besides, don't you agree that the federal government getting involved is a last resort? And how can we be there already given such inaction by the governors responsible for their states? Nice try. And besides, we're told Antifa violence is all in our imagination. Violence? What violence. Sorry, but Democrats own their problems 100%. Don't come whining to Trump now.

Once again, a deflection. I just pointed out that it was Donald Trump who threatened to send in the military if governors didn't send in the national guard. Not much evidence of that on his part since the D.C. debacle.  How is pointing that outt evidence that I want him to do that? Spare us your mindreading act.

And you claimed re the mobilization of the National guard that "It's the state's [sic] responsibilty.  Period." But it's not, is it?

People can only be arrested in the US if they are suspected of breaking the law.

Maybe you should read the news ?

Ummmm.... Antifa is at issue here, not BLM. And essentially,  you are making stuff up as you go. Antifa has been involved in violence across the country and in Canada. It is simply a matter of casual observation and acceptance of reality. No amount of you denying is going to change reality.

Reality might be a poor choice of words....????????????

Not a good idea to stand on a motorway / highway and this reasoning has safely seen me through 50+ years.

Well, since this thread was about an incident involving current protesters, I assumed that your comments were in relation to the current situation. But if not, then antifa has been very quiet for the past few years. And it's really a misnomer to refer to antifa as an organization. As the justice dept. itself has noted, there isn't much if any hierarchy. Pretty much anyone can claim to be committing acts in its name. And how many deaths have been laid at the door of antifa activists?

I find your posts absolutely HILARIOUS! So now one incident of Antifa not doing something somehow makes the numerous instances of their real, actual violence all over the country somehow disappear and become all a figment of everyone's imagination!

What real actual violence ? Can you elaborate please ?

It had been blockaded by the police. The driver actually had to go around barriers to hit the protestors.

Read the news.

He is being charged with murder. Educate yourself prior to posting please.

Charging and prosecuting are two different things so think again. You could charge a person for murder if they failed to take a gun and lock it away, and a child then found it in the house and shot themselves accidentally, but thats not what will be prosecuted. Get some study time in. 30 plus years in Law enforcement as an investigator, so i have 1st hand experience in court matters.

Just like Covid, the riots are the responsibility of the States and cities. But but the governor and mayor are illiberal wackos so they get a pass. Trump did offer to help but they wanted to handle it themselves, with disastrous results.
