When the U.S. sneezes, the world catches a cold. What happens when it has severe COVID-19?

Back to OP original comment. The US is losing it's position as the world's leader. I think it will be replaced by Germany. It could have been so so different. Imagine a normal administration, like Bush W. We'd have lead the world, helped the less fortunate etc. But now we are the outcast. We blew it. Sad

The US GDP per capita is still 30% higher than Germany, despite having 3 times the population. And Germany's population is predicted to fall to 80M by 2050, compared to the US rising to 380M by 2050.

I'm not from either country, but saying that Germany will replace the US is a bold prediction.

The old saying, The Ugly American, in relating how some have acted as tourists, in the past,

should be replaced by the Toxic American, as by the way so many of them have

handled themselves with this Corona virus. These child like people who will not

wear masks or social distance, or try some means to stay healthy against the virus

like avoiding crowds, and staying home if they do not have to be shopping or other

necessary reasons for being in the public.  The American freedom attitude is, as sensible as their

2nd amendment attitude, not very sensible.   Right now there are so many states that,

have high covid 19 numbers, that the world should not let many Americans into their

countries for at least 1 to 2 years.  The USA is in big trouble if there is not vaccine to

help them out soon.   Hopefully their great leader does not convince many of them to

take his perfex,  bleach,  or other home made cures to rid them of their virus, etc.

US GDP contracted in first six months of 2020

First quarter  2020        -   5.0 % change from year to year

Second quarter 2020     - 32.9 % change from year to year.

Let's see how things go from here for US and the world.
