Rallies won’t spread Covid-19 if precautions taken: expert

Citing the many “Black Lives Matter” protests across the world, Chulalongkorn University scientist Jessada Denduangboripant said so far there is no evidence that demonstrations spread Covid-19.

He said a 60-page study from the National Bureau of Economic Research showed no instances of coronavirus infections being spread due to the rally.

One of the key factors for this was that protesters maintained social distancing, judging from reports from several cities were big protests were held.

For instance, only 1.7 per cent of 15,000 protesters in Minneapolis tested positive for Covid-19 and the city had an infection rate of less than 1 per cent.

Another factor was that people wore face masks, which made it different from other public gatherings where people refused to wear mask.

Similarly, the rate of infection did not rise during the Black Lives Matter protests in England because protesters took precautions.

Hence, Jessada said protests will not boost the spread of coronavirus if participants realise the importance of hygiene principles and wear masks, use hand sanitisers and maintain social distancing.

the way the virus works is,

it infect if you are working/eating/drinking,

but you are safe if you throw concrete bricks

and demolish property,

its biology, its science

Those darn facts keep getting in the way of the janta's "perfect" government.  If the virus is cha cha's only argument, looks like the protests are okay to continue.

I had heard that if you tested positive, that part of contact tracing they were not allowed to ask if you were part of the Only Black Lives Matter (OBLM) protest/rioting groups.

City infection rates under 1%(0.5% 0.8% ??)

Protesting (rioting and looting) groups rates 1.5%
Possibly double the cities infection rate, but the conclusion was it is not increasing the spread of the virus. It’s amazing how people can take any facts and claim it supports their conclusion

Now Native American Indians are claiming they want to get paid for the land they lost, Mexico says California once belong to them before a war with America, and should be returned to them.
Both of these lands were worthless before America develop them.

The future protests will be banned not because of CV but because the egotistical power mongers are so scared of the youth protesters.  Remember what they did to the Future Forward Party?

In Thailand, with no infections for nearly 2 months, the risk of spreading the virus through the protest is extremely minimal. Although the government may use the remote possibility of increasing the spread of the virus in Thailand to squash the protest
Although this is not the same for the rioters in other countries where the virus is still spreading

Is Minneapolis in Thailand or America?

i know of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

They were citing from world wide data from experience from Only Black Lives Matter protest/rioting groups. Possibly using data of people who tested positive and admitted to being in the rioting groups.

This is how statistics is misused. They compare events and virus rate in America with events and virus rates in Thailand and then equate them to be an equal.

But the protests in Thailand may increase infection rate by a factor of 10 or 20. It may increase from 0% to 10 x 0% (still 0%) for the last two months.

All this talk of social distancing is total b*llocks and inconsistently exercised. Classic example is BTS/Skytrain in Bangkok. Some domestic flights are flying with planes nearly full, so much for the spacing. Markets places full of people elbow room only...

Covid19 has always been a lie. The reason there is no proof BLM violent rioters is because it's not time to say it yet. When it suits the agenda "aka. Second wave", then you'll start seeing data coming out that gatherings spread covid. That is because its election time in USA and they don't want Trump to win. Lieing "experts" will suddenly come out and say gatherings are deadly but 2 months ago these "experts" said it's safe to protest BLM but protesting g against lockdown will spread covid.

Idiots.

It didn’t rise during obviously but a few weeks later areas in England had to go back under lockdown.

Compulsory mask wearing in shops has had to be introduced as of today.

I agree, with no reported virus in Thailand for almost 2 months, rallies will not cause an outbreak.

Most of Australia has had very few cases of the virus, except Melbourne. Unless the referenced Only Black Lives Matter protest was in Melbourne, and the statistics are for one week after the rally, it does not reflect the damage done by Only Black Lives Matter protest. If it was done in Melbourne, this may help explain the recent outbreak

Even in Thailand before the virus was completely suppressed, people took off their masks were talking to each other because it was inconvenient. It’s difficult for me to believe that a group of protesters yelling and screaming and throwing rocks were wearing mask most of the time.

I’m curious about the average education and income level of the rioters for the Only Black Lives Matter group
