Pattaya: Plucky dustman who lost both legs fights on

Thai media 77kaoded published an inspiring story about a Nong Prue municipal dustman (trash collector) who lost both his legs in a terrible accident last September. 

 

Thanong Saengthong, 37, was loading up a bin on the back of the dust cart on Pattanakarn Road, Moo 6, Bang Lamung when a car smashed into him. 

 

He had to spend the next four months in hospital. 

 

He said that at first he found it very difficult to come to terms with losing his legs. 

 

But the knowledge that he had to fight on for the sake of his three children kept him going. 

 

His eldest boy had finished school and was helping his wife at home. She is a housewife. 

 

His second child is a girl in M3, the third year of Thai secondary school. His third is in P3 in primary school.

 

His employer Nong Prue administration has helped him out by giving him space to earn a living. Among other things he does basic motorcycle repairs for the health department and general public to earn extra cash. 

 

He lives from that and welfare payments and payments for the handicapped. 

 

The story contained no financial appeal for help, notes Thaivisa.

 

Plucky Thanong was clearly making the best of the terrible accident that had befallen him.

A gutsy guy worthy of respect. Yes, there are millions like him, but he is a good example of great fortitude. Good luck sir.

Terrible açcident to suffer .. this chap has shown tremendous spirit in the face of adversity in adapting from it to continue to provide for his kids and should get all the help available to let him continue providing for his family for he is made of good stuff .. contrast this story with another running today about the snotbox who done a runner after killing someone in his flash car and now appears to have got away with it ..

Good for you Thanong, you certainly have my RESPECT.

I more than most know how difficult his life is now, but hey what a fighter.

Not looking for sympathy/ handouts, just doing his very best to make a living support his family.

A real role model! One should hear more about such people instead of criminal billionaire's sons who are too cowardly to take responsibility for their actions, like killing a cop with his Ferrari. One can guess, if one believes in this, they will have a different karma.

Take Note,      Unemployed/Bludgers/ No hopers /farmers . There's No such thing as Can't Do. 

If you don't try you will never know.
