The deputy national police chief and deputy attorney general will clarify the public prosecutors’ decision to drop all charges against Vorayuth Yoovidhya for an alleged fatal hit-and-run case before the House committee on law, justice and human rights on Wednesday (July 29).

The committee’s chairman, Palang Pracharath MP Sira Jenjaka, said on Tuesday that both deputies have confirmed that they will show up to provide their testimonies. He added that members of the press have been invited to attend the session, which will also be publicly broadcast.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG)’s deputy spokesperson Prayut Petchkhun said OAG’s working panel tasked with examining the dismissal of charges should complete its task within seven days.

Vorayuth, the scion of one of Thailand’s richest families, faced charges for an accident eight years ago that took a police officer’s life.

I wonder if they'll even think to question these new "key witnesses" who just happened to come forward - 8 years later - to exonerate Vorayuth. :glare:

Agreed.

And it's one thing money and coruption can't overcome.

Sure he's wealthy and will presumably choose to live elsewhere, but he will always be a "punch-line" in Thailand.

Even if they do, he left the scene of an accident using a police officer as a mud guard. In what reality, is that not a crime?  There should be some charges at the very least, surely!

He drove his car and killed a cop with the help of many he left the country has been having a good time now he’s back and people are wondering how is this possibleTIT

Deputies.....Hmmmm......:coffee1:

I think the majority understand, it's happened before, remember Chalerm's young fella, Duangchalerm, murdered a cop, ran then came back and got a plum job as a police firearms instructor.

I'd say it will be forgotten after 3 or 4 bowls of rice!

There are 300 million reasons why the case was dropped.

The dog and pony show committee will take years to deliberate their findings in the hope that people will forget. Thai style...
