Thai ambassadors in countries across the world have been tasked by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to help stimulate international trade and investment and fortify labour cooperation to rehabilitate the post-pandemic economy.

Government spokeswoman Narumon Pinyosinwat said the premier also requested every organisation to amend laws to enhance trade.

Both the Tourism and Sports Ministry and the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry are now responsible for the rehabilitation move as they have major roles in boosting Thai tourism.

The Cabinet has also approved a Commerce Ministry draft on import deals with Australia and New Zealand under free trade agreements.

One deal is aimed at strengthening economic bonds with Australia for imports of potato, onion and onion seeds, while another covers a customs deal with New Zealand on plants, food and drugs.

Help expats and semi-expats to go back to Thailand would be the first step.

Still too complicated and embassies not helpful ("no flights planned in August, sorry", "only urgent cases, sorry").

Get your domestic mess of gigantic proportions in order first, then talk.

Who would invest in a country with a totally biased legal system (see Vorayuth Red Bull and the likes)?

A labour department, hardly speaking English, making work permits a serious uphill battle just to please those superiority-complex-driven civil clowns.

Inability to find low skilled labour with basic loyalty and reliability to show up for work after payday.

A over-the-top-high local currency and a government changing its directions on almost hourly basis?

Who would invest in a country where "investors" are called "dirty farang", "khaek", "check" and similarly derogatory words and everything is pro-Thai and anti-nonThais?

As said, get the basics right and we'll look again in a few years. Meanwhile money flows everywhere - except Thailand.

That would be a good start, but much more to do than that
