Gold coins

Featured Replies

I have several American gold eagle coins I would like to sell, can anyone tell me were I can sell them in Thailand ?

Because they probably only count the gold value of the coin here, I assume it would be best in a gold shop. 1 oz gold per coin. It will with today´s value give you about 1300 usd, which means you will lose about 50 usd from the real value.

When I was selling a piece of US sourced gold jewelry, a friend gave me some good advice.  Go into any gold shop and ask them to weigh it.  Then when you go to another shop you will be able to compare the weight.  In my case, the gold shop at the corner of Sukhumvit soi 10 knew the exact percentage of gold contained in the piece I was selling and based the buy price on that.  I felt I was treated fairly.

Do you know if they will buy the coins ? Do you have there name and phone number of the shop ?

Me - maybe - send me a PM if you like?

Check the real value of any coin before selling it. You might loose a lot.

I do but prefer privacy so PM me if you like?

I experimented with selling a 1oz gold coin (Brittania) And a 1oz gold bar (Valcambi) at about 6 different shops around Bangkok including Aurora.  Most won’t touch it as they only deal with Thai gold.  The small independent shop that would buy it offered 25% under spot.  I contacted Huasengheng (the #1 gold dealer in Thailand) and was informed that they would indeed buy .999 gold but only in quantities of 1kg or more.
