Police and the fire brigade were called to a housing estate in Moo 5 Phan Thong, Chonburi after an Isuzu pick-up went up in flames.

It was not an accident - a man had doused it in gasoline then lit a cigarette as he attempted to drive it chasing his wife with whom he was having a major row.

The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes as neighbors helped the firemen at the scene.

Daeng (an assumed name) said that she was selling stuff at the market when she got a phone call about the fire and ran home.

She said that her son Arthip, 28, and his wife Jan (also an assumed name) had been arguing.

Her son went to buy gasoline and poured it over the seats of the pick-up that is believed to belong to her daughter in law, she said.

Relatives doused the pick-up in water to dilute the fuel and stop a potential conflagration, reported Pattaya Update News.

Frustrated by all of these shenanigans the daughter in law rode off on a motorcycle with a friend enraging Arthip who decided to give chase in the pick-up.

Unfortunately for him he made the mistake of lighting up a cigarette.

He then fled on a motorcycle.

Phan Thong police are now hunting for him.

Daeng said she was willing to pay for the damage caused by her son.

Morons don't just have accidents. It is their innate stupidity that naturally and inevitably nails them, as proven by lighting a cigarette inside a vehicle soaked in petrol.

And this year's Annual Zoolander Award for "Stupid People Who Do Incredibly Dumb Ass Things and Don't Realize It, too" goes to...

(rustle, rustle, rip, rip)

... Mr. Arthip, affectionately known among his friends and foes alike also as "khwai ai ngo".

Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Will he charged wit criminal damage or the equivalent, or just stupidity in the extreme ?

Steady on Colin.  Slapping older children can make them behave oddly and they can become weird and start driving amongst us but I guess this pickup will be off the road for a day or two .

they all lived together in the same house ?   mama's boy ... a bit like colté from 90 days

Man, he sure showed her who the mature rational one is of the family.  Thais love drama.

This is one of the main reasons so many Thai males never grow up.

No that will be on the road in the morning

Petrol floats on water, so it would have been all in the drains at home...waiting to get ignited.

A tip for the police searching for this fool, he is the one with singed hair and NO eyebrows.

you  just cant help stupid, in fact Ive come to the conclusion when out driving, imagine the stupidest place to overtake and theyll do it, and then theyll do it at a snails pace just  like when they pull  out on to a main road or do a ut turn when acceleration is required.

Id  bet if they had a stick of dynamite  in that car he would  have rested his  cigarette  butt  on that also.

Didn't think petrol was water soluble!    555

Just like Christmas or a wedding in the UK, people can't live without drama.
