TAT expects big jump in tourism earnings in September

Tourism revenue in September will grow by 20 per cent compared to the same month last year, after the government approved September 4 and 7 as compensation holidays for Songkran Festival, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said.

 

 

Songkran holidays were cancelled in April due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

 

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said that the long weekend this September would stimulate people to exercise their right under the tourism stimulus campaign ‘Rao Tiew Duay Kan’ (We Travel Together).

 

September is normally a month without any national holidays, and schools nationwide are already open, he added.

 

In addition, the TAT aimed to organise a fair to stimulate the tourism sector this August. Numerous operators of hotels  and airlines will be invited to have their booths there with promotions.

 

According to the recent meeting between the TAT and private entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, the businesses have demanded that the government assist them in reduction of their major cost;  they are seeking suspension of debt payment to be expanded, and asked the Social Security Office to take care of their employees.

The entrepreneurs demanded that the government support their financial liquidity, and hasten the return of tourists to visit the country’s safe and sealed areas, which were strictly controlled.

and i expect a big jump in my sex life but we both know these things are not happening are they TAT ? 

 

 

Does anyone still believe foreign tourism is only 9% of Thai GDP? And not 20-30% or more? 

dreamers .....     maybe up from July slightly because of the long weekend but I doubt 20% will be achieved. How the heck do these experts come up with all these projected figures in every news story,  I guess they all have dart boards in their tea rooms.

They have a right to tour but no right to protest an illegitimate government ?

Domestic tourism for most people is taking money they would yse at home to either buy food or goods, saving it, and spending it elsewhere. The money is already here in the country. If its credit they are using then the household debt just goes up as they may not be able to repay the bank for that great weekend they had on someone else's dime. When will these morons stop with the tourist figures and increase in money from domestic tourism as saving the country.  What a bunch of buffoons.

They don't mention the possible adverse weather for September being the height of the monsoon season.

Or people with money who will now spend it in Thailand as opposed to abroad as they cant travel..........

they keep manufacturing fake holidays in desperate hopes to jack up up revenues and save the country's fledgling tourism industries from collapsing, hopefully now the will realise how important those dislike foreigners tourist monies is crucial to this country...

Talking of 'tourist holes', I do hope all potential death-traps are closed securely.

Unless there will be a last minute rush I dont see any movement at the moment Im in Phuket

They might at least put the word "domestic" in the headline. Overall tourism earnings will be well down.

Well, maybe the TAT circus will support its jump expectations with the source of money to be spent by all those long weekenders.

Too many clowns and far to few circuses and I still wonder, what kind of wonderful stuff they smoke down at the TAT .........

They evidently haven't factored in the promotional costs and subsidies they are paying out to entice locals to tour
