Queues at the DLT: Public can use app during Songkran replacement weekend for priority

The Department of Land Transport has announced that people who register on the DLT Smart Queue application during the long holiday weekend at the start of next month will not lose their preferred place in line.

The government has already announced that Friday 4th September to Monday 7th will be one of the replacements for Songkran that was cancelled back in April.

This will mean that all DLT offices nationwide will be shut making licence application, registration for plates and tax payments impossible on the 4th and 7th, said Janthira Burutpat.

But the public can still reserve their place on the DLT's app then show it to the staff when they arrive on their preferred day and they will get a priority place in line.

The DLT App is finally working.  I was able to make a driver license appointment at Chatuchack, but not until November 9th.  Tried at all of the other Bangkok locations and they were all full until the years end.  The app only allows for a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday appointment to be booked.  Does this mean that on Tuesdays and Thursdays that they do not do any licensing.  If that's true, then they are completely lacking in there assistance to people.  On top of that I completed the online e-learning that they have available which took over a day to complete, with having to watch the videos, and then take the tests after each one.  That certificate is only valid for 90 days, and of course the medical Cert which I will be obtaining in two weeks when I have my annual physical is only good for a month.  So in essence I will need to redo the e-learning, and go have another physical.  This is ludicrous.  My US license and the International one I have is still valid, but having now lived here technically full time since last November, I am not sure how that would play out with my Class 1 insurance for my car and motorbike.

Surprised, but well done, as I was told at Pattaya DLT "not for foreigners".......so had to go in person to make the appt with all the documents.

Residence Cert normally only lasts a month but I was told no need to get a new one even though appt was 6 weeks out.

I guess the saving grace was i have a pink thai non immigrant id card so the 13 digits pulled up the needed information when I registered on the app. I read an article in the BP and thought I would try and get the app back on my phone, and viola it worked. I know it was down for awhile.

Are they taking photos with their masks on? :cheesy:

I guess they won't mind me showing up with a balaclava for my renewal.. It will look super cool on my license card.. ????
