Hi, I got a non o visa based upon marriage on 13 February 2020 and I was supposed to update it on 13 May 2020, given the amnesty I didn't. I would like to know if the amnesty in this particular case extend to 31 August or 26 September. Thanks

September 26th is the current amnesty. You have to leave or apply for a extension of stay on or before that day.

If not extended again you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife.

OP, imo you should have obtained your 12 month extension based on marriage prior to May 13.

Some imm offices interpretation is that you do not have current permission of stay.

You need to approach your imm office to clarify your situation.

They may require you to obtain 60 day extension to visit wife then annual extension.

Which office do you deal with.

Your wife must be with you when you apply.

You will need your marriage certificate and a copy of it. Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card. Some offices will also want a updated printout of your Kor Ror 2 marriage registry from a Amphoe.

I'm not sure to understand, on 13 February 2020 I got a multiple entries non immigrant O visa based upon marriage, valid for 12 months. Every 3 months I have to leave and reenter the country or apply for an extension of stay at my local immigration. What are these 12 months extension?

They are a one year extension of one of your 90 day stays from the non-o visa based upon marriage to a Thai. You do not need to leave the country unless you want to and you only need to 90 day reports to immigration.

You will need for a 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 2 months on the day you apply or proof of 40k baht income.

You obtained a multi entry Non O Visa to 'visit' Thai wife, 90 day each entry, but each 90 day entry can be extended by 60 days, to 150 days before making a border run to obtain a further 90 days 'permission of stay'.

So if you entered Thailand on 13th Feb, you would have been granted permission to stay until 12th May.

However the borders closed so you were unable to make further border runs to renew your permission of stay. Due to this issue, the cabinet declared an amnesty allowing foreigners unable to make border runs or take flights out, to remain in Thailand by automatically extending your permission of stay until Sept 26th.

You can obtain 12 month extensions of that permission of stay based on retirement or marriage to 'stay' in Thailand throughout the year. You make 90 day reports at Immigration offices and do not have to have to make border runs or leave the Country.

There are financial requirements to obtain the 1 year extension based on marriage as already posted.

Although your Non O Visa is still valid, it's of little use as you cannot make border runs.

Your permission of stay as granted by the amnesty expires on Sept 26th.

You must therefore either make plans to leave prior to this date, or apply for a 1 year extension to stay, submitting the financial evidence to support yourself throughout this period.

thank you for your answer, that's all clear now. I just doubted when I saw the post for DrJack

Probably a misunderstanding, all good now.

What documents are required to request an updated Kor Ror 2? Just your passport and the Kor Ror 3?

It is easier for you wife to request the printout of it. She just needs to show her ID card and complete a form.

You would need your passport, marriage certificate and possibly your existing Kor Ror 2. They might also want a copy of your wife's ID card.

Already got it done. my wife was upset about asking her to accompany me as she said: "I have to work and can't just drop everything for something like this". Had I given her more notice, no problem, but there is little time left hence why today was the only option (seeing that Friday and Monday are public holidays).

Not sure why it's apparently so much easier for a Thai to do it (if everything's on the system already), but except for the part about the official saying exactly what you said, I showed all the documents you mentioned (I didn't have time to check your response this morning) so I just brought everything they might ask for and it all worked out. Took about 20 mins to issue. Cost 10 Baht. All in all a fairly pain-free process.

Thanks for your advice. I had been searching through this forum before asking the question and strangely couldn't find anything, thus had to ask.

I hope your aware she will have to also accompany you to Immigration.

I notice you still have a valid Non O ME Visa.

Are you intending to apply directly for the 1 year extension (subject to funds seasoned in bank).
