Star Trek’s William Shatner hits back at George Takei criticism on David Tennant’s podcast: “He’s making things up”

William Shatner has responded to criticism from co-star George Takei about his behaviour on the set of the iconic 1960s sci-fi series, saying “George is making things up”.

Takei’s comments were made on David Tennant’s podcast David Tennant Does A Podcast With…, when he discussed the rivalry between Shatner and the rest of the cast and said at times it felt like “William Shatner against the world”.

He said the bad feeling was created by the excess fan mail co-star Leonard Nimoy (Spock) received compared to Shatner, who played the captain of the USS Enterprise, James Kirk.

“You know, movie-making, TV-making, theatre-making is all about collaborative teamwork,” said Takei, 83.

LOL.

Shatner and Nimoy WERE Star Trek, the rest were just along for the ride.

I can understand Nimoy getting more fan mail, though his attempt at music stardom seems to have been a bust. However, he was just as pants as Shatner when it came to directing.

It is after all is said and done Hollywood, and Hollywood is Money, Talent and EGO's at just about every level of production.

I disagree. Star Trek 3 (Search for Spock) may have been a tad boring, But 4 (Voyage Home) is regarded as one of, if not the best of the TOS movies. And Three mMen and a Baby was the highest grossing film of 1987.....

No comment on Shatner's "music"? ????

Has Been and Common People were pretty good.

His net worth is reportedly $100M (more than 2x Spock's).

Thanks for that.

I hadn't realised that Nimoy directed anything other than Star Trek films so my comment was specific to Star Trek movies.

I googled him and Star Trek was just a part of a very long movie and tv career. Quite impressive too.

I did like him as an actor in Star Trek, but I wish he ( and Shatner ) had not added director of Star Trek movies to their CV.
