Video: Wrong way driver - for FIVE kilometers - says GPS made him do it

It is becoming the favorite excuse of Thailand's negligent and crazy drivers.

GPS.

A man who was filmed going five kilometers in the wrong direction on Chaiyapreuk Road on the outskirts of Bangkok last Wednesday morning has surrendered to the Pak Kret police.

Other motorists had to pull over as Suwat - seemingly oblivious to what he was doing behind the thick black film on the windows of a Toyota Fortuner - travelled at speed along the road.

He said he was in a friend's vehicle he had borrowed and was going home.

He said he was unfamiliar with the road and went that way because the GPS told him to do so.

He was chased - on the correct side of the road - by a foundation rescue vehicle that saw his crazy driving.

But he still didn't stop.

Suwat surrendered to the police to show his innocence on Sunday, reported Sanook.

He apologized to society.

The Pak Kret police slapped him with three charges including going the wrong way on the highway and negligent and dangerous driving.

He will appear in court in Nonthaburi.

Last week a truck driver caused a bridge to collapse saying that GPS made him cross the rickety structure.

We all know it's just a face-saving excuse when caught out.

A GOFUND will help for court fees...we should all donate to save him.

I'm waiting for the excuse "But officer, my GPS caused my brakes to fail"

I would have thought donating some white talcum powder to cover his red face after his loss-of-face would be better.

I've heard that when a GPS gets you in a solid headlock or a half Nelson, it is very hard to resist, better just to go where the GPS "makes you go!" ????

Didn't hand himself in until Sunday.

I am sure that it was not the Saturday night drinking that caused him to do it!

typical of their shift the blame latitude ..

I have absolutely no doubt quite a few driving perfectionists on TV would do the same while the limited grey matter is in full submission to a GPS.

GPS made me do it, and common sense was not there

to help me.

Another day in Thailand. However have seen and heard in the west, also people did stupid things, as they followed their GPS. Just running in a hedge for instance, as they had to make a turn according GPS.

Mind to zero.

What a complete moron...some people do not have the brains they were born with.

Yep that will do He turned himself in next morning after he sobered up, But he has plenty of mates driving down the wrong side of the road. The drivers here have no worries about the cops They are non excistant Oh sorry yes they were They were cooking on a BBQ outside the cop shop a couple of days ago and the cars were flying past them :cheesy::cheesy:
