Hi...i am trying to understand what i need from my embassy to get my marriage visa 1 year extension (I am on a multi non o married to a Thai with two children from the marriage). I sent an "application of certificate of no impediment of marriage" but was called by my embassy staff and told i do not need any documentation for a marriage visa 1 year extension. The application of extension of stay letter from Jomtien immigration says i need "letter of certification issued by the embassy attesting that a person had not registered his marriage prior to marriage, and children's birth certificate (if any); or if a marriage was registered in a foreign country, a Thai or English translation of the marriage certificate, certified by the embassy, and registration of family status (form KhoRor 22) must be submitted. If anyone can give me some advice on this it would be great. Thanks.

What they want is copy of the affirmation of permit to marry you used to register your marriage at a Amphoe. But they do not normally ask for it unless the couple applying are newlyweds.

You will need a printout of your Kor Ror 2 marriage registry done recently at a Amphoe when you apply.

We have a kor ror 22 which i used last year to get my marriage extension ,when reaplying this year do we have to go to the Amphoe to get a new one? to prove we are still married?

You just need a recent printout of the Kor Ror 22 that can be requested at a Amphoe. You wife can easily get it with just her ID card, completing a form and paying a 20 baht fee for it.

OP, did you marry in Thailand ? if so, you maybe still have the original MFA certified "free to marry" document.

My first marriage extension in jomtien, they did want to see this document, (i happened to have it in my folder of docs) subsequent extensions they have not required it, a kor ror 2 is required each year.

Not sure if its a deal breaker if you dont have the "free to marry doc", its not a document people would usually hang on to and it cant be re-issued, no consulate is going to issue a free to marry document when you are married.

If they make a big deal of it, just tell them the ampher kept the document (the original purpose of the document) and your consulate will not re-issue

Good luck
