The most beautiful island in Thailand?

I have traveled throughout Thailand and spent time on some wonderful islands. They all leave a memory to savour for a lifetime. They have a charm that is unique to the Land of Smiles.

Each island has its strong points, for example Koh Kood is unspoiled and a place to find solitude whereas Koh Samet, although falling victim to mass tourism leading to overcrowded beaches on the main stretches, is convenient for a weekend break from Bangkok.

However after returning from a 4 day break on Koh Tao on reflection, for me at least, it has the edge over all the other islands in Thailand. It is one of the smaller islands in Thailand but still a third bigger than Koh Samet.

Koh Tao is jaw dropping beautiful and on every new cove you discover it opens up a new form of paradise. The beaches are world class, the view points are amazing, the diving and snorkeling is top notch and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to watch a sunset from at the end of the day.

Yes , Koh Tao certainly is beautiful if you just arrived ... but if you stay longer the beauty kind of vanishes ...

Same with women ... if you live with a beauty queen , some day the reality of daily life takes over and the beauty becomes less important , sometimes even boring .

I know what I am talking about , I met my wife over there ... lived there long enough to be happy to leave .

The families of people who have mysteriously died there and not to mysteriously would probably disagree !

Dan must have got a brown envelope from the people in charge of the island, to try to get some tourists back to murder island .

IMO Ko Tao is beautiful.

Similian is more beautiful. IMO.

What is the most beautiful? I not know.

Thailand have 1430 island.

How many Dan go to already? 10?

PhiPhi for me...I like the idea of no cars .  I vacation 4x a year there at the end of the island where the only way to get there is longtail's.  That's P A R A D I S E . . . i forget to mention all the beautiful coves along the way STUNNING ! ! !

met your wife over where? Koh Tao?

Marrying for outer beauty alone is rather shallow.. I married a beautiful young Thai lady 20 yrs ago - I know she is not the ravishing traffic stopper anymore but I still see her that way... but much more importantly, she is a wonderful person...

Bear in mind that you have just been to Koh Tao when it is probably the quietest in has been in many years. So your impression is somewhat skewed.

If you had gone there say Feb 2018 or 2019 in high season, when the island and it's dive sites were at their busiest time of year, your impression may have been very different.

I think all of the "undiscovered gems" in Thailand, have been well and truly outed on social media by now.

Any quiet places that I know, I keep to myself.

I know the most beautiful island i live there won't advertise it though.

Anybody who has been to Ko Kood knows that almost any other island doesn't come close.

Dan about Thailand's vlogs are a joke.

Phangan kicks tao in zee ass.

I'm guessing near 7-11.

Koh Kood?? ....Nah - not in my book - but I still have many, many others to sample ????

His link seems to have been made in 2019... if he thinks it was beautiful then well... maybe he;s easily pleased.

Dark Tao has lost its luster. Having a serial killer on the loose does not help. And it has always been over priced.

I would say Koh Phangan. Anywhere away from Had Rin is gorgeous. And unspoiled.

Koh Kood gets my vote

Do you feel the same about restaurants, bars, hotels etc?

I used to really like Koh Chang.  I went there a lot back in the early 90's up until around 2007.  Now it's quite overpriced and over run with big resorts that squeezed the small family run operations out.  When they started making the ferry run for cars cheaper that was the downfall.  Then all of the road improvements etc.

As an earlier poster mentioned, Koh Phangan is nice when away from Had Rin.  Avoiding the Full Moon Party is also a good idea.
