Maybe we are getting the fringes already? it's been raining heavily for most of the night (still raining) in Surin province.

Yes, lovely lovely. I can't remember when was the last time we had steady & heavy rain pelting down for (so far) about 7 or 8 hours non-stop. Usually it's anything from 3 to 20 minutes ...

People in risky areas have been warned of flash floods and runoffs, while generally the public has been told to avoid large trees and insecure buildings.

So everywhere then?

No, just the buildings on their own.

They must be agoraphobic, therefore insecure.

I live in the south of Phuket really heavy at the moment cant see the islands

Same same.   Very windy conditions with driving rain, forecast to last right through tonight and tomorrow.   Not a day to be at sea for sure, and no doubt the aftermath reports will detail the inevitable flooding and damage that are bound to occur.

Ah, that should keep the suckers at bay from burning for a while, ca you.....smell that fresh air.

Around Here the morons cannot go more than a few days without burning something.   The idiot in the corner house 2 doors down had his fire go out when it rained the other night.   Last night I  rode past ands there are 2 car tyres there blazing away and creating enough smoke that could be seen from the space station!

The word "typhoon" doesn't  apply here. It's a tropical storm which will be reduced to a depression by the time it reaches north Thailand.

https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/western-pacific/2020/tropical-storm-noul

According to the Hong Kong Observatory,  it probably hit Typhoon status just before crossing the Vietnam coast. But is cause once over land will die in strength,  speed and severity into a Tropical storm...or "Depression".

But probably have plenty of rain to release.

Remember 2011! (Although that great  flood year was 3 of these in a row and poor water planning/management ).

It's not a typhoon but TS Noul will fill to become a TD (Tropical Depression) as it moves over Vietnam. Over Thailand max winds are forecast to be 35 kts at the Lao border area, with some gusts to + 10 kts - these winds will decrease as the system moves west but check your roofs! A lot of heavy rain coming over a large area in Isaan and the North.

The depression is also likely to pull in a strong SW Monsoonal flow and more rain over an even wider area in Thailand. Stay safe and away from deforested hill slopes etc.....
