Medical experts see Covid-19 risk for Thailand from foreigners

Allowing foreigners entry is risky for Thailand and it might be better to follow the sufficiency economy philosophy to lower dependence on foreigners until the virus situation can be contained globally,” said Dr Thira.

A doctor, not an economist.  Dependency on foreigners would only increase on the military's watch. Making the Thai people weak and dependent makes them easier to rule.  It will take a very long time and big shifts that the Thai elite are not willing to see for the country. Shifts in education and allowances for investment.   Not going to happen anytime soon, and if it does happen, it will take one to two decades.  It is easier to deal with this flu like illness.

Uncanny….

….the way these brilliant medical observations and recommendations are so perfectly timed and so completely in line with official government agendas. You’d almost think these famous 'experts' were on the payroll....and just reading from some General-dictated script.

But….nah….that couldn’t be true.

Someone is needed to do the work. So many rural Thais will not work, preferring to drink and take drugs day after day

Lets get that xenophobia whipped right up!!

Covid 19 is an absolute gift for general Pinocchio and his minions, get's to put the boot into the dirty fallang and allows him to spread fear among the serf's whilst dragging the country back to the locked feudal country they long for, they love it!!!

It is a fantastic gift for governments all over the world, the Wuhan virus makes control of the people nearly complete, makes "democracy" surplus to requirements, makes the people afraid and angry, and so on, and soforth.

By the way, if you think this is the agenda of the current government, try to compare the current and former "opposite" governments.

I do remember quite a few words

and deeds of Mr T and sister.

Same-same comes to mind.

The haves want the not-haves docile and poor.

But that is universal all over the world.

"Richer "havenots" can't be controlled any more and take away lots from the "haves".

General use of the word "Foreigner(s)" by Thai Journalist in their Headline articles along with Thai Gov't officials need to clearly distinguish the category they are concerned about such as visiting Foreign Tourist, legitimate foreign business people, employees, family ties, etc versus Non-Immigrant Foreign workers from neighboring countries. Throwing the term "Foreigner" around as the major concern inflames and implies that all Foreigners are the problem for entries back in Thailand that haven't been cleared for COVID-19 issues.  Perhaps Thai Visa Forum administrators could point this out with their Thai journalist/new media colleagues/Thai PR officials.

I must have got it wrong, I thought quarantine meant not going out at all. I guess m not an expert virologist after all.

When will the world realize that Sweden is the only country in the world that handles the pandemic in a sane and rational way? The fruits of their strategy will become more and more obvious and undeniable as the rest of the world continues to suffer from lockdowns and new outbreaks.

Criminal pseudo science politicized. The COVIT-19 "virus" has never been isolated. It's very existence is questionable.

The worldwide used PCR-Tests can not determine the presence of this "virus" nor are they able to determine if there is an infection.

This is a global hoax, a scamdemic. Entire economies are being crashed to be bought back later for cents on the dollar.

Wake up people !!!

The virus went through my brothers family in Chicago a couple of weeks ago. He and wife are in 50's with 2 boys late teens.

He had sore throat and light fever for 3 days. Rest of family symthoms like hay fever 5 days. Thats all now ok.

The boys friends have mostly had it and are ok.

A lot of people that are getting it now are not severly effected? Maybe the virus is changing?

Maybe some of you remember an old Beano charcter called Jonah.

Whenever he turned up anywhere there would be shouts of "Aaaarghh, it's 'im"

That's how I feel whenever this man's picture appears on  Thaivisa CoOVID topic!

Just for you - I used to love this fella (Jonah, not the other funny one).

Not to mention all those other conditions those dirty evil foreigners have. Like how many foreigners die each year from hypothermia? If we let foreigners into thailand, they'd spread hypothermia to the thai people too.

Sharp rise in infections because of a sharp rise in testing for infections ?

lets hear about how many of those infections require hospitalisation or result in deaths  and how many have mild or no symptoms.

Take it you would have preferred Thailand followed the UK model, similar population, now looking at a new national lockdown to try and minimise the total projected covid related deaths of 69.5K by Jan 1st.

https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-kingdom?view=total-deaths&tab=trend

Remind me, how many covid related deaths in Thailand?

Expert! 2 a penny anywhere in the world. Will say what you want for $

“Covid-19 could enter Thailand when someone comes into the country. Both countries have a long border and many natural channels. We need to control  migration to prevent the outbreak,” said Dr Yong.

He's about the only man who talks any sense.. immigrants from bordering countries are going to pose a huge threat if allowed to come for work without quarantine, those illegally entering should be investigated as to who is bringing them in or what companies are offering work without documentation.;

Maybe  the sports & tourism minister could have a chat with him as to what risks are from international tourism and his master plan.

I think the Prime Minister needs to get his spokesman to sort out who is running things here

One minute we are reading the minister of Tourism is saying lets open Phuket

And other areas to Tourism

Then the medical profession steps in saying don't let tourists in

They need to get together and sing from the same Hym sheet

As getting conflicting messages not good for the Hoteliers restaurants

Businesses ect dependent on Tourism

No, it's the fact that they have no rights, can be abused and will work for peanuts.

As loath as I am to comment on the ignorant Thai bashing, the fact that Thailand has progressed from a mostly agrarian society to a mostly service industry based economy over the last 30 years or so is the very thing that enables you to squat here comfortably and freely type such misguided dross.

BTW, thanks for helping Thailand in this shift. Without your need for five-star resorts, condominiums, 'proper' bacon, Vegemite, the EPL and free Wi-Fi, they simply couldn't have done it without your collective, pontifical munificence.

Sorry, health costs money. Even the NHS needs to be funded.

Why should Thailand pay for the failures of underfunded Western health care systems?

For any of those still hanging on to their business in the hope any kind of open border will be soon....this is a clear indication, cut your losses now as there ain't gonna be no tourists allowed back in Thailand for another year.
