Protesters from around the country arrive in Bangkok for anti-government rally

Pro-democracy protesters across the nation reached Sanam Luang in Bangkok on Saturday to join the political rally later in the day, while four fire engines have been stationed at Government House for emergencies.

 

 

At 8.30am, several people from Bangkok and other provinces started arriving to attend the political rally organised by the United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration group.

 

Many of those from upcountry took interprovincial buses or vans and reached on Friday evening.

 

Meanwhile, the situation at Government House was peaceful. There were no protesters, only media personnel and related officials.

 

 

Four fire engines were stationed at the seat of government for unexpected situations, and some officials have rehearsed an operation to deal with the situation if large masses of people invade Government House.

 

In addition, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has provided mobile toilets as well as other facilities for the protesters.

They’re all wearing masks and outside rather than in a confined air conditioned space. I think the reopening of schools, especially primary schools poses a greater risk.

Nothing sad about it, BLM and Antifa have rallies in various countries around the world no one stopped them and there was no spiked or outbreaks in the cities that the rallies was held at, Funny that ???? So you are saying a rally that goes against the agenda will?, They was all wearing masks and demonstrating peacefully.

Freedom to demonstrate against a government that installed themselves after a military coup is a good reason to protest in my eyes.

Yes a terrible spike in cases due to these protestors, meanwhile crowded BTS, MRT, malls, markets, and schools just carry on no problem there as TH is Covid free according to the glorious people-loving PM ????

How many people attended yesterday, I've seen reports of 'thousands' & 50k mentioned on the Beeb?

Estimated numbers from people there have it higher than 100k. 

 

These numbers will grow and protests will lengthen until there is change, or violence. I know which one I am betting on. 

 

The disgraced lunatic Sonthi is already spreading the disinformation and conspiracy theories that the US and Thaksin are behind this. 

 

This may be a very important period in  history for modern Thailand.

But you think the PM can do no wrong amd speaks the truth.  There is no virus in Thailand so how can a protest  spread nothing?

Find it funny to find out so many evil implementations of the current world have taken place while hippies were protesting decades ago, thinking they did a good thing for peace and freedom. They actually have lost freedom and peace bit by bit since.

Is using Razor Wire around public owned Government buildings even legal it's not a battle ground?

Lets hope they don't send in black shirts to justify a crackdown.

Not sad at all. The major majority of the New Thai Generation and older smarter thinking ones have had enough of the military Elite control circus. The virus is secondary to this and they are willing to contract it in order to protest for freedom and true democracy for their lives.
