george Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Three foreigners arrested in Thailand for smuggling Viagra, sex tools BANGKOK: -- Thai authorities have arrested three men from the Middle East and Africa for smuggling Viagra, sex tools and a large haul of shisha tobacco into the kingdom, police said Tuesday. Some 150 packets of Viagra produced in China was seized along with 144 packets of another sex enhancement drug when immigration police arrested Egyptian Ebrahim Mohamed Ebrahim Hussein, 38, Adam Abakar Adam of Sudan, 44, and Saudi Arabian Saad A. Al-Mohammed, 50, in central Bangkok late Monday. "The three confessed to selling the drugs to increase sexual ability to foreigners in Nana district," a notorious red-light zone in the Thai capital, police said in a statement. Viagra, a product of US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, is used to combat erectile dysfunction. At an immigration department briefing authorities also displayed 62 penis pumps and other sex toys and tools confiscated from the trio. In addition they said they seized 100 kilos (220 pounds) of shisha tobacco mix -- used in hookah pipes -- on which Thai authorities launched a crackdown against last year. The three were charged with smuggling and selling unregistered medicines. In April Thai police arrested three Japanese including a 69-year-old man allegedly running a pharmaceuticals ring selling Viagra and other anti-impotence drugs. --AFP 2004-06-15
Bluecat Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I do not know what business plan they had but somebody should have told them that the competition is though in Thailand for "whatever" enhances your sexual ability,...
ChiangMaiThai Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 100 kilos (220 pounds) of shisha tobacco mix -- used in hookah pipes -- on which Thai authorities launched a crackdown against last year. Crackdown? Why?
stroll Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Becuase it is smuggled in, no taxes paid. There is another newsclip on this here.
penzman Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Importing shisha (flavored tobacco) without paying tobbaco duties is prohibited.
BlackJack Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 100kgs of funny smelling ctns smuggled in the mind boggles thinking about how they thought they could get away with it
wjta Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 The mind boggles that this is the kind of crime that gets attention in the Kingdom. Glad to know that is the worst sort of thing that goes on in such a well-regulated and well-run country ;-) It was probably the sex toys that got people's attention. Thais love to be shocked and titilated about that sort of thing. BTW: does anybody know if there are actual laws against "indecent" devices, porn, and that sort of thing? I can't say I have ever seen a "marital aids" store in LOS.
jimbim Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I've wondered the same thing. There are no sex toy shops here that I know of. There's even one on Orchard Road in Singapore. Surely Thai laws are not more prudish.
homeless007 Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 any kind of sex toys, porn etc. is illegal. a thai had actually opened a small stand with sex toys (vibrators etc.) at Royal Garden about 6 weeks ago and got recently arrested and closed down. TIT!
DaveYo Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I cannot believe that Thailand is so prudish and purinatical of about sex toys, for pete's sake at least it lasts longer than the cumcumbers!!!!!!!!!! I wonder what they will do with those hottie toys now, besides admire its virility!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine us expats having a small supply. Those girls will squeal with obvious delight and literally kiss you to death and you will be one very popular dude much to the demise of the ho hum thai boys. As of tobacco or tobaccy, that is not crime, all they had to do was submit a customs tax duty to them and they pay the taxes right there. Besides it is flavored tobacco with aroma, mostly used for pipe smoking. As of Viagra, my goodness, someone must have a big boner of a problem so such order was processed.!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder China is hopping like bunnies over there and of course their surge in population is the result. The Chinese are probably more hornier than their conterparts I would think. A case like this they won't be in the Hilton for long. They will have a fast Bon Voyage Daveyo
Foggy Bottom Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Hmmmmm I smell a black market business opportunity (sorry no racial slur intended) ....... Just about every picture frame shop in the kingdom sells both room temperature vulcanising silicone rubber (for making moulds) and room temperature curing polyester resin (similar to fibreglass resin) for making castings into the RTV silicone moulds. OK - nuff said - use your imagination for the rest
astral Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Apart from the tobacco, sound like they were offering a useful service for some customers?
Aikido Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Thailand is probably one of the most hypocritical countries youll ever come across, remember this prostitution is illegal here ! so what are all them lovely ladies doing in the bars ?
NedKelly Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 I am sure I saw an ad onthe back of The Nation the other day for penis pumps. It appeared to be a Thai selling them !!!
Mon Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 I reckon those guys had the droop themselves and needed the " pick you ups ". As Austin Powers once said " it's not MINE !! ". Peace
Pedro Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 I am not suprise to have heared about this. I beleive horny girls in thailand are more than their customers, what about those that have no customer for the day. Toy penis should have helped them. I hope the authourity make a consideration on the toy penis to help curb the rainy season.
Dove Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 What is a penis pump? If I am not wrong it is one of those penis enlargement tools that creates a vacuum to elongate the penis. A very common tool seen at the sex shops in Soho. For your curioscity please check out this site --- Link and affiliate ID removed by admin. Member warned. -- Anyway what the heck, these pumps couldn't have been WMDs so it couldn't have been an offence to bring that in, I have seen even more crude carvings at the night markets.
cbatson Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 any kind of sex toys, porn etc. is illegal. a thai had actually opened a small stand with sex toys (vibrators etc.) at Royal Garden about 6 weeks ago and got recently arrested and closed down. TIT! Can you cite a specific law that backs this up? Do you know for what offense the Royal Garden shop owner was charged? You'll notice that the charges against the foreigners in the original post did not include anything related to the toys. I'm unaware of any criminal law that forbids such items, and if this is not the case, I would like to know. Chuck

najene Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 I'm a little confused. Does this mean if you go to Cambodia or somewhere a buy some generic Viagra or cialis because it's a lot cheaper you can get busted or does this just apply to some sort of commercial smuggling?
george Posted June 18, 2004 Author Posted June 18, 2004 A very limited personal import of medicine would be easier to explain to the customs than a (huge) commercial import without paperwork. Why not buy the stuff at a Bangkok pharmacy instead and avoid problems?
Guest fj2003 Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 just do the monthly border run to victoria point and you will be save for the next 30 or 90 days if you need but bee honestly does some one really need it i found that i had the best s** always when i had been clean of everything because then the brain and the imagination or illusion which is running brings up your orgas.... or maybe i'm too young for this discusion o.k. the toys that's a pitty i'm sorry for the ladies or the boys how ever whom use but please turn on your phantasy there are a lot of other toys are around but be carefull some 4 leg like to bit hihhihihhihihiiiihhihi
Payne Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 I frankly find it refreshing that the Kingdom does not permit the sale of so-called "sex toys". On a recent visit to Europe my wife and I were shocked to see such items displayed in a high street store where they were quite visable to children passing by. At least I assumed they were "sex toys"as it takes a rather strange imagination to understand their function. The use of "toys"in an intimate encounter between a married man and women sounds most unnatural to me and indeed if their use was prolonged I would think that physical and mental anguish could possibly ensue. An exception might be made for long term male prisoners providing the devices are employed under strict medical supervision.

You sound like that guy off "The life of Brian" who's looking out the window at an endless row of kids leaving his neighbours house. He says to his wife "Its discraceful, having that many kids, We only have 3" His wife says "Thats because we've only had sex 3 times dear" Just tell yourself they are neck massagers if they offend you...
