Ministry ready to open schools for all

Minister of Education Hang Chuon Naron confirmed yesterday the ministry is ready to ask Prime Minister Hun Sen to begin Phase 3 of the schools reopening, as phases one and two are running smoothly. This would be the final phase of reopenings after schools were temporarily closed in March due to COVID-19.

Phase 1 involved the reopening of schools with the highest safety standards, Phase 2 included schools with average safety standards, while Phase 3 will consist of schools with minimum safety standards. “The ministry inspected a selection of schools on their hygiene standards and concluded that Phase 1 and Phase 2 are running smoothly. We are ready to ask Mr Hun Sen to begin Phase 3,” Naron said.

However, he does not yet know when this will happen. He added that the ministry is lacking some materials such as masks and hygiene tools. They are welcoming any donations.
