We applied 15 days before the 26th, as per their requirements, but today went in and were told that it might not be done by the 26th. They said I would need to get a letter from my embassy and pay for a 30 day extension if so. One lady told us this, we didn't query it more (yet), but does that sound right?

Exactly. Hat Yai and UK. It's impossible, and it's not my fault they can't make the 15 day consideration period. We did everything they required in time. ????

I've seen some people on facebook who applied for ED that were told just to come back next week as their application hadn't been considered in time, and not get any kind of stamp, but that sounds just about as dodgy as what I was told today about applying for an embassy extension..

The immigration office could issue a under consideration stamp to the day they think it would be ready that would allow you to stay in the country until it is approved. They normally do not do them since they expect it will be completed before your permit to stay ends.

They could also contact division 6 that is doing the approval to expedite it.

is issuing an under consideration stamp a big deal?

No a big problem for them to do one. Some offices have told people to not worry about it being late since the 90 day stamp will start from the day the visa is applied for.

I'm guessing they don't want to be on the hook if the application is denied.

It is rare for a visa applications not to be approved. If they are problems the division headquarter will contact the office about it so that it can be sorted out.

One suggestion in future is have a Livestream (Youtube) and record accordingly whatever verbally spoken between both parties to avoid situations like these. I did that but was given a tongue lashing nstead. I told the Official to keep his hands off my camera and would not hesitate to report him to the PM Office. he reluctantly did as told, despite having to put up with my arrogance....LOL. It works at times but there again, nobody seriously knows the real situation unless one's in it. meanwhile in Singapore, here i'm basking in the hot sunshine wondering what to do next.

Went back today and spoke to some other people including the lady in charge of Non-O applications, she said "don't worry about it, it's not you, it's us that are taking time", and just to wait for the call. She suggested we try get an embassy letter just in case the Non-O falls through, but she said she thinks everything will be fine.

What a difference a day (and speaking to a different person) makes, we barely slept last night. Yesterday the lady said "you have to leave or get a letter" if we don't get the stamp by the 26th. I guess she was confused.

This all gets to me too easily I know, but can't help feeling like animals sometimes...

edit: thanks @ubonjoe and @DrJack54. I'll keep y'all posted, and go into detail about this arduous and anxiety inducing process once we get some kind of closure.
