Good afternoon,

I was on amnesty and then applied for my 30 day embassy letter extension on the 21st September. They gave me a "under consideration" stamp until the 05/10. So on Monday I will report back. I understand that the new amnesty law includes an extra element whereby people that applied for a 30 day extension before the 26th September should have their stamped adjusted to the 30/11 instead of the normal 30 days after the 26/09. So my question is:

Is this part about the 30/11 actually in law and to be implemented by all offices, in all cases where its applicable, or it another one of those things that will be case by case and up to the officer/location concerned ? I want to be armed and ready with the correct info incase they end up stamping me for the end of October.

Thanks in advance

No, it doesn't contain this extra element.

Afaik there has been no further info, than what was mentioned by the immigration bureau press person. If you were to walk into your IO now they probably wouldn't know anything either.

We will have to see if they actually enact this or not.

Oh ok, I was under the impression the amnesty was already published in the Royal Gazette. So what you mean is it wasnt in the official amnesty policy and only an idea which may or may not be implemented by immigration ?!

I received a message from a person that went to get his extension stamp after the under consideration period but was told it was not approved yet since the division headquarters were waiting for info about the extension being valid until November 30th.

It a appears to still in the process of being approved. It might not be done until the next cabinet meeting.

The official amnesty ends October 31. The extra month was suggested for people who applied and paid ฿1,900 for an extension before September 26. I haven't seen any official announcement yet, but I might have missed it, or something will happen later.

Thanks for that. So i guess thats what will happen with me on Monday then. Either way I suppose it doesnt matter as I assume come the 06/10 ill technically be on amnesty again until they decide what date to give me.

Thanks. So it looks like this bonus month was merely an idea. Ill expect the worst (21/10 stamp, amnesty 31/10) and anything better is a bonus.

You are on amnesty now. But you will hopefully get another month because you paid for it and the so called "stranded" tourists did not.

Update

Just got back from Ubon immigration with a stamp for the 30/11 . Furthermore, the officer who dealt with me said if I need more time after the 30/11 I should come back to have my "stamp changed", was her wording. She said to my wife in Thai, that no additional application would be needed.

Now i don't know whether the officer was getting a bit ahead of herself with general policy or whether she got her words wrong but either way it looks as though they are expecting further extensions of amnesty or the ability to extend during Covid. Will be interesting to see how this pan out.

She go it wrong. You could apply for another 30 day extension (1900 baht) using a embassy letter to stay beyond November 30th from what I have read today.

Still noting official about the 60 days that immigration verbally mentioned.

Thanks. Oh well, as long as there is a way to stay while the borders are closed thats all that matters.
