The news of Bt3,000 monthly giveaways to children, the elderly and disabled from October 9 was fake news, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security said on Saturday.

The ministry officials said the truth is children would receive Bt600 per month, the elderly would receive Bt600 to Bt1,000 per month depending on their age, and the disabled would receive Bt1,000 per month.

The officials added that the ministry had paid social welfare for these people every month and the payment for this month would be made on October 10.

"We would like to ask people not to believe in this fake news and not share such information on social media. People can visit the ministry's

website: www.m-society.go.th or contact 1300 for information," the officials said.
