New Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith

Arkhom Termpittayapaisith was officially appointed Thailand’s new finance minister on Monday, tasked with rescuing the economy from an unprecedented downswing under the impact of Covid-19.

The appointment was announced in the Royal Gazette on Monday.

Arkom succeeds Predee Daochai, who abruptly quit the post on September 2 after less than a month in office.

Arkom was previously transport minister under the post-coup Prayut Chan-o-cha government.

Before that, he was secretary-general of the National Economic and Social Development Board, a state think-tank which is now known as the National Economic and Social Development Council.

Being a minister under the post "illegal" coup Prayut Chan-o-cha government means he has all the credentials to be a dynamic finance minister, in other words, he will do exactly as he is told, and will be another puppet for the unelected P.M.

What Financial experience does he have has he ever been employed in the financial industry somehow I doubt it and when at University what did he qualify in these are the question people should ask , having done a little research the only things I have found are his failures in the other positions he held so that does not give me much confidence for the Thai economy . Someone in a previous comment mentioned being a puppet to the PM I have a feeling that the person who mentioned that remark may have well hit the nail on the head.

He’s off to a fantastic start.  Baht has just trounced western currencies so far this month.  This begs the question:  if the economy’s in shambles—why does the Baht continue its torrid pace upwards?

They need someone that actually knows how to use photoshop to do their logo properly.

Because Western countries' economies are in worse shape than Thailand's.

Simples.

I though Prayut promised someone who knows what they're doing?

Not exactly.  On Wall Street, the bull has returned.

"What Financial experience does he have has he ever been employed in the financial industry".

What experience does the unelected "PM" or any of his soldiers have in anything to do with running a country? I hope that as soon as this "PM" is out of office and there is a peoples government back in, that  this guy does serious jailtime for what he and his soldiers have done to this once nice country.

With no wars to fight, the generals decided to get into running a country.  What could possibly go wrong?

If he does that and appoints someone who knows what they are doing they wont be able to keep their snouts in the trough. If he appointed someone who knew what they are doing he might discover all the rorts this mob get up to
