Cheapest ground coffee in Thailand ? 79thb/250g casino coffee (french coffee brand)

hi, I always knew that coffee was overpriced in Thailand and finally found the casino coffee at BigC that is so cheap and so good.

It seems to be a promotion but I hope that coffee blend will remain at this price because it is the only honest price for 250g of coffee !

Even decaffeinated that is usually sold a fortune in Thailand !!

I hope that this post helps some people and I think that you should stock this coffee in case price increases later.

cheers ! have a cup !

Does anyone know where I can buy some refillable, reusable capsules to suit a Nespresso pod machine?

I'd love to give some of this ground coffee a try, and I'd like to move away from the less ecological offerings that Nespresso provides.

just to clarify..

Casino products are house brands of Groupe Casino, BigC's former French partner.

Not house brands of BigC. BigC still carries products of Casino, though not as many as when Groupe Casino was a share-holder. Probably part of the purchase agreement.. The situation was the same when Carrefour was a share-holder.

To answer the OP, 79 Baht is a great price for these coffees. They usually sell for 195 baht.

What kind of machine can you get for thb250?

I use (and would recommend to anyone interested) an Aeropress; they're about thb600 on Lazada.

Thanks for that. It is a promotion and a good price at that, will try to get some.

The casino expresso used to be my go to ground coffee when it was 125 baht per 250g. Then bic c started rapid increasing the price of this coffee, 1st to 165 baht then up to and the price stabilised at 195 baht.

After the increase to 165 baht I stopped buying it as there are many other good ground coffees one can buy for around 110 baht per 250g.

After tomorrow, they will be around 200 Baht again, don't make yourself illusions that the richest man in Thailand will lower prices on a product that is mainly bought by foreigners. I wouldn't even be surprised if it would disappear from the shelves, like so many products for the foreign community.

Is that per kilogramme?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

250 thb is already too expensive for a minimal machine which function is only to boil water !

Any coffee machine that costs more to just boil water is a scam.

Found ground coffee in makro. Price 114 baht, the bon cafe brand. I buy 250g mocca and 250g all day and mix them.

Foodland has duang dee brand, also quite good. I think three different strengths of arabica for 109 baht per 250g.

If in Bangkok in paholyothin not far from the mrt station. There are 2 shops selling coffee and equipment mainly for the retail trade. Ratika brand and another I forgot. They have many different coffees from chiang mai for around 120 baht per 250g. Ratika have a website which one can peruse and order online.

Online from lazada and shopee one can also find good ground coffee for a good price.

I've been using the aforementioned Otto filter coffee machine for 6 years now. I think the current price is around 290 THB.  My coffee of choice is Boncafe morning blend at around 115 THB for 250g. 2 mugs and I'm good to go.

Not necessarily - if pressure's involved, engineering & safety gets more difficult. But I'm still curious just what kind of machine this is....

Erm you not worried about pollution? what about all the plastic capsules?

The Casino Colombian and Brazil brands were my go-to coffees until the price skyrocketed two or three years ago. I switched to Hillkoff coffee. Tasty and good value.

I used to buy Thai Arabica beans from Chiang Rai for around 250 baht / kilo and used a grinder.

I am sure you can still order online.

Around 500+ baht for 4 x 250gm of Doi Chang brand on Lazada.  Free delivery and quick!  Nice beans that don't have a bitter after taste.  Ground available. Last box had a free mug in it...and a very nice mug it is...but a bit small for my morning Joe!

If it uses boiling water to make coffee, bin it. It will make the coffee more bitter. 90-96c is the right temperature for the water.

I also noticed and bought a few bags of their organic fair trade coffee and the Peruvian Arabica, both marked down to 79 baht.  However, I think what is happening is that they are discontinuing the Casino brand of coffee and this is a final sale price.

Lazada or Shoppee.  Quite cheap!

Red cliff thai coffee is 499b a kilo search on google or https://www.redcliffcoffee.com/product/100-arabica-coffee-1-kg/

I ordered some Redcliffe beans just recently, but I was a bit disappointed. There is no date stamp on the packet and there was little aroma when I opened the packet or when I ground the beans. It is clearly Arabica, but the taste is unremarkable.

I saw and bought 6 packs the promotion is till 30 october

But usually I buy sole coffee at makro, 160 thb for 500 gr,

My favorite "coffee maker".  French press.  Also works for loose leaf tea.

Little bit of a nuisance to clean...

How many have you broken while cleaning? I usually use my aeropress now for a cleaner taste but the French press still comes out for some of the beans I buy.

To keep my coffee spending down I mostly buy green Thai peaberry beans at about 250 per kg, but I also sample other roasted beans every month.

No kidding-overpriced coffee in Thailand

You can buy Doi Chang coffee in Canada for 1/2 the cost compared to what they sell for up on Doi Chang mountain-at the source

Wonder how they can ship coffee half way round the world at 1/2 the price

I've also been using the Otto coffee maker for years now and it just does the job.

My favourite coffee is the NLCoffee Espresso Blend 390 baht a kilo;

I bought a cheap grinder and it's been good for two years already.
