It's a thing, like I started out in Nottingham, where being rude was a way of establishing your authority, then I moved to Brighton and was amazed at how soft people were, finally I came to Thailand, and met softness incorporated. So, to answer the question, if you find farangs rude, you've probably been away from home too long, it's normal behavior back home. Personally, I prefer the soft approach, iron fist in a velvet glove.

Ok, now that we're being brutally honest, considering that most "nutcases" or quirky people are probably not aware of their affliction, is it possible you could be one too?

 

If not, what gives you the right to judge? Judgmentalism is probably one of the more annoying "quirks", because the assumption is made that the one doing the judging is perfect. The name for that specific quirk is "narcissism".

 

Back to topic... we are all individuals, from different countries. Each country produces its own standard of normal, that might not be considered normal by a person of a different nationality.

 

Having said that, I find queue jumping by Thai people as annoying as done by any person of any nationality. The Thais don't get a pass for this behaviour. Thais who do it know they are doing it and that it is wrong, and one should stand one's ground. On the other hand, if I'm in a queue at at a supermarket, and I have a trolley full and the person behind me has a few items, I let them go ahead of me. Mostly they thank me. There is good and bad in all countries.

I have met and have so many friends in Thailand

I feel lucky to have met all these great guys from around the world

 

But on the flip side, the farangs are the worst part of my 20yr experience in Thailand

I managed a few words to a few select local expats and they all seem pleasant but I do keep my distance and prefer online discussions during unsociable hours.

I have a couple of friends here, see them occasionally. I prefer to keep to myself the rest of the time. My GF does not live with me 24/7, don't think I could handle that.
