I'm an American.  We also had almost a century and a half of not allowing women to vote--that was also the law in my country!  Not to mention also excluding minorities and non-land owners.  Eventually, the laws were changed.  The Electoral College at this point has become an embarrassment that has unfairly created 'swing states' that attract all the attention of the candidates in presidential elections, while the other states, and their voters, are virtually ignored.

So it looks like the law was corrected for women  minorities and non -land owners ! The electorial college  at this point is still the law ! It was created so the less populated areas in our country  had meaningful voice ,It balances the electorate power between states with small and large populations.

The left wants to radically change this along with the founding fathers interpretation   of the constitution!

I like what the USA has struggled for that withstands the test of time!

I just got my ballot via email which I can fax in to the states. I got screwed in the 2016 general election (dropped from the registration rolls) and the 2020 primary (signatures didn't match even though I cut and pasted them on the forms - they couldn't have been more clearly the same). I can then follow it and be sure the vote counted.

Most states which have early voting show more than a 100% uptick in participants which, as we all know, indicates a majority of Biden folks. Biden by a landslide then get back to repairing the severe damage 45 has done to the nation and to the US standing in the world.

I already have good health care insurance, please leave me out of this.

No problem. Biden offers a choice and will let you keep yours. He has a decent plan to make medicine cheaper and to give better access to more people.

Trump, like on so many issues, has no plan. Trump has done so many things on the coat tails of others. If when he got elected he had to start from scratch what would health care be. He has no plan. You and others see him as a no nonsense genius but he's just a flim flam man.

A politician should be making life better for people. It doesn't make you a left wing hippy, kum ba yah person, just to want better for people. I get if Biden was making taxes super high for everyone, or taking away your health care choice,  it might have bad ramifications . He's not. He's just making things a bit fairer.

He's done nothing in 47 years ????

Instead of just regurgitating Fox opinion pieces, perhaps you could do some research for yourself. Here, let me get you started with 6 (there's plenty more):

- Biden sponsored one of the first climate change bills in the Senate in 1986 and went on to propose curbing greenhouse gas emissions in 2007.

- Biden co-sponsored the original Violence Against Women Act in 1994.

-  He largely wrote the 1994 Crime Bill.

- In 1986 he was the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Biden became chair of the Judiciary Committee in 1987 and served until 1995.

- Biden has played a role in foreign policy, serving as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee three times. He spoke passionately about the need to place sanctions on Apartheid-era South Africa in 1986 and advocated for intervention in Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

- In 2008, he successfully passed the PROTECT Our Children Act, which was aimed at addressing the online exploitation of children.

- As VP he helped the Obama administration pass several key pieces of legislation, including the 2010 Tax Relief Act, the Budget Control Act of 2011, which dealt with a debt ceiling crisis, and the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The 2012 act resolved the so-called "fiscal cliff."

There is going to be a lot of cognitive dissonance when the progressives that don't ever venture out of their echo chamber will be reliving November 2016 all over again, except this time it won't be as close.

The stuff they are pulling off that laptop is off is a whole new league of shocking.

Stop reading the far right rubbish and read this as it does try to throw light on the subject......and as a start, why would a laptop that was handed to the FBI in April 2019 suddenly 'deliver" information NOW, around 18 months after the event.

And even the FBI has said that it has no comment on the wild theories out in the media.......smacks of a GOP smear campaign, and some.

First, every individual little fact — every email, every text, every photo — must be independently verified when data is surfaced in such a suspicious way, not just one piece of information. Genuine photos, for example, could be there simply to add credibility to forged emails surfaced along with the photos — shielding a few forgeries with genuine content would be a time-tested active measures tactic.

Actually, Richard Nixon--not exactly a member of the radical left--endorsed abolishing the Electoral College during his presidency.   At this point it doesn't balance the electorate power--if it ever did. Instead, a handful of swing states unfairly get all the attention every presidential election cycle and a losing candidate who manages to swing those few states can be elected, even though a majority of the voters nationwide, nearly 3 million last election, wanted the other candidate.

Actually, refusing to call the result is probably one of the more sensible posts on this thread.

Even if Trump loses, Trumpism will remain. A disaffected white group who have limited employment prospects, and most could not find Africa on a world map. They are too dumb to realise Trump has just been using them. As he has used the fundamentalist Christians, whom he not so secretly despises.

As an outside (not American) I see the choice between, on one side 2 completely weird old white guys who couldn't get a job at my local Tescos AND a guy whose too old to be my great grandad and his hard ruthless running mate. The only thing they all have in common is politics made them rich.

America needs a better system to choose its leaders and politicians (as do most of us).

Politics didn't make Biden rich. Book deals after being VP did.

At least that is verifiable, as Biden has released his tax returns. It's still a mystery as to whether Trump is a rich man or a bankrupt. He does need the presidential perks to keep servicing his debts, which is why he is fighting so hard to stay in the job.

Has it ever occurred to you that what the founding fathers put in place all those years ago would actually not stand the test of time because the world has changed very markedly since then, and I do believe that even they were worried that things would change and what they put in place would no longer be relevant in the future.

I read an article the other day in which this subject was used as an example........

A lecturer asked the class what they thought of the constitution, and the reply was that they were very proud of it and the way that America had followed those guidelines through to the present time.

She then asked the class if they would be quite happy if their loved ones went into hospital for neuro surgery and the doctors referred to medical procedures and journals written about two hundred years ago in order to treat their loved ones.

This stunned the class as they had never thought about it in these terms, however it makes a very valid point.

The electoral college is one thing that needs looking at again as many other posters have pointed out, because it has lost its relevance.

"The idea of amending constitutions at regular intervals dates back to Thomas Jefferson. In a famous letter, he wrote that we should “provide in our constitution for its revision at stated periods.” “[E]ach generation” should have the “solemn opportunity” to update the constitution “every nineteen or twenty years,” thus allowing it to “be handed on, with periodical repairs, from generation to generation, to the end of time.”

The comparison the lecturer used isn't apples to apples.  Medical procedures evolve as we gain new knowledge.  The intent of the founding fathers was to create the Constitution based on eternal truths as best they knew how.  Freedom, for one.  God given rights for another.  These things are eternal and don't change with time.  People can stray away from eternal truths if they so choose.  That's called freedom.  The freedom to choose.  Even when your choices are adverse and injurious.

Part of the problem in the U.S. is the educators and professors are dumb as rocks.  This lecturer certainly is to make such a ridiculous comparison.

Biden had 47 years in  Congress, Senate and White House and he always seemed to be on the wrong side of votes and somebody please list two accomplishments, getting foreign donations does not account. This election is about Harris, that’s who you are voting for????

'Trump’s Rural Edge Shrinks With Enthusiasm Fading in Key States'

"The big margin of support among rural voters that helped Donald Trump secure victory four years ago is looking less firm in 2020 with the potential to shift the outcomes in key battleground states.
....polls leading to Election Day show that enthusiasm for the incumbent has waned compared to 2016. In a race where the margin of victory may be slim and turn on the result in just a handful of states, even a slight dip for either candidate in a core constituency can mean the difference between winning and losing."
