Non Im O multiple extention one year, during the amnesy to Sept. 26.- What should be the beginning date of the extension, plz?

Hi to the forum, I am getting confused by all the info, in the news.

To make a long story short (still long, I think ???? :

I arrived in february with a "fresh" multiple non im O (over 50/retirement)

Which got me to may.

Before I had to do something (going to Immigration for short extensions), the gouvernment decided to give foreigners time till July 31.

Since the Covid situation in my homecountry in europe was (IS!) much worse, I decided to go for a one year extension of stay, just before the deadline in july, a couple of days before the next amnesty to September 26!

Because I have never done that before (I usually use my multiple entries regulary for trips in asia, so there was no need), and b/c of the special situation, I decided to involve a visa service. Also I really don't wanna have to go to Phuket immigration in the first place! It is a horrible place!

So I got the needed details together (money in bank account and all the paperwork from my landlord)  and got it running.

And got the one year extension and the passport back in september.

Just: the one year starts in may, the day after my 90 days on the entry with the multiple non O.

Not at the at that time amnesty deadline, Sept. 26

And I google my fingers wound,  but somehow, all I find is "all visa extensions start from day after " (sept. 26 / oct. 31)

I know, that most extensions are granted by just the amnesty rules, and mine just got extended during amnesty times, I just would like to know that the may starting time of my one year extension of stay is the right date. Or can/should I ask for changing that to september 2021, or even to end of october?

I wasn't actually worrying that much, but the covid count in europe is sky rocking, these days, some vaccination wont reach us "normal people"  before 2022, ed of 2021 as best, I guess.

Travelling forth and back wont be possible for these timeframe, and every day/month can make a difference.

Thanks for reading and clearing this for me!

One year extensions start on the day your permit to stay ends. The extension will end on the same day every year.

It seems odd they backdate yours to May when your 90 day entry ended. It really should of started from day you applied for the extension.

I am sure they will not change it to a later date now.

i had read reports of some people getting there extension date to September 26th when I applied for mine in August but it was still done to one year from the day my extension ended.

Thanks , ubonjoe, for the reply.

So it is a difficult topic to follow up on!

I could understand, that an extension for an extension is starting one day after the ending date of the last extension.

Since the amnesty for extensions of stay was, as far I understand it, only a "no reporting 90 days" amnesy. But that might be wrong thinking, or right only for people with not ending extensions, since a couple of people had assumingly ending extensions in the "immigration is closed" times!

Just mine is a "brand-new" extension of stay, my visa 's (still, not striked) valid till january, and since I was in that general amnesty, I assumed at least a starting date after the amnesty.

Actually, geting my passport back, I did ask the visa service about it, and they said : no, starts at entry stamp ends. But nothing else to expect here, I think.

Just since then, mid September, there are lots of news about starting dates of extensions, in special Phuket is in crossfire about, so I thought it could be useful to follow up on that!

Is all of this confusion really just about people with tourist visas or extempt entry stamps?

No one bothered, to clear all of that during the amnesty times?

The Interior Ministry Order approved on April 7th included everybody that were in the country after March 26th. It did matter what type of entry they had.

The all extensions would end on September 26th was not really clear on what extensions came under it. It was mostly up to the office that issued them. But for a extension based upon marriage it could also of depended upon the division level office that did the approval. The stamp for division 4's approval showed August on it for mine.

Myself I would not say a word...

You are lucky to have a 12 month extension until May next year and easy to renew when due next time.

Why worry about missing several months..!!!!

To be honest some offices would have not have done what they have given you.

You are all good to go..!!!!

So relax and enjoy Thailand.
