If you have property in the UK that should be possible, it was for me at least, HSBC. I also file a UK tax return and have UK income so that may have helped but I imagine you do also. -

Not to mention, how many of those jobs were full time, non-gub'ment (or NGO), and went to the native born and not to the "newcomers"? And how is unemployment the same, when we have 10 million new job entrants, and (arguably) not many more jobs than pre-Covid? There's another puzzler for ya... -

Yup, and scarily it's not necessarily old Unix systems. Unless it's specifically stated in the documentation one of my standard questions during a software review is "is the system Y2K38 compliant". It's really scary how many are not (mostly embedded systems like POS and credit card terminals). -

No wonder people like to shop at Lazada.
I use CC w/o worry. Of about 700 items I've ordered over the last 8 years, FINALLY a few weeks ago, 2 of 3 of the same item didn't arrive. Not expensive. I raised a dispute with the seller. Denied, said their records show shipment of all items. Appealed to Lazada and got refund to my credit card as usual. If I'd taken delivery in person, I would have taken evidence from the delivery person. In this case, the logbook of the receiving security guard recorded that only 1 item had been delivered, so a photo of the logbook sufficed. Payment by credit card is just too convenient. I'll never go back to COD, haven't used it in years. -

The problem is not paying to fast track an inspection. The problem arises if said payment means no inspection, or ignoring defects, illegal modifications etc. I have no idea what a bus inspection here involves. I suspect on paper there is a lengthy check list a DLT inspector is supposed to follow, but probably also one that is poorly worded and open to interpretation like so many regulations in Thailand e.g. "check that tyres are in acceptable condition" with no definition as to what 'acceptable condition' means. That said, I suspect the officially mandated inspection is likely far short of what would be acceptable in a developed country that takes safety seriously. It always makes me laugh, when I take my motorbike for its annual 'MOT' here, that the checks don't include whether the tyres are roadworthy or the brakes and horn all work. They do however care whether the indicators are the wrong colour ... -

Laminate/Vinyl flooring over wood floor
refinish the floor and the shutters to match. The fool looks to be 20 years old plus, and if it's okay until now, it will likely be fine. Hardwood floors squeak, but they are good for a lifetime with minimal attention. Unless it's high-end laminate and is installed perfectly on a SOLID subfloor it will look like cr*p in a year or two.
