I arrived in Thailand on 1st September 2020 on a NON O based on marriage. The validity of the Visa was from 19th August 2020 until 18th Nov 2020 which I understand is the standard 3 month validity Non O single entry based on marriage issued from the UK.

Tomorrow I plan to apply for my first yearly extension based on marriage using the 400,000 seasoned route. My questions are as follows,

1. I may need to return to the UK ( if Covid restrictions allow) within the first year, so can I use a multi re - entry permit to travel back and forth within the first year and subsequent years to follow even though the Visa has expired its 3 months 2020 validity ?

2. ( depending on the answer to the above 1st question) If I am in the UK and by chance travel restrictions mean I can’t get back before the yearly extension expires do I have to re apply for a Valid NON O visa again as the yearly extension would have expired ?

Many Thanks

1. Basically yes. You can apply for a single (1000 baht) or multiple (3800 baht) re-entry permit.

Your visas expiration date means nothing after you enter the country since it only the last day you can use it to enter the country.

2. If your extension expires while out of the country you would have to get a new non-o visa and then a new extension of stay.

Please note that the period of visa validity is different from the period of stay.

Visa validity is the period during which a visa can be used to enter Thailand. The validity of a visa is granted with discretion by the Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate-General and is displayed on the visa sticker.

On the other hand, the period of stay is granted by an immigration officer upon arrival at the port of entry and in accordance with the type of visa. The period of stay granted by the immigration officer is displayed on the arrival stamp. Travellers who wish to stay longer than such period may apply for extensions of stay at offices of the Immigration Bureau located in the provinces.

Yes.

A re-entry permit keeps any remaining permission of stay valid on re-entry.

Unless you intend to travel at least 4 times within the year, I suggest you only purchase a single entry re-entry permit (1,000 baht).

Yes.

If your permission of stay expires, you have to start the procedure again by first obtaining a new Non O 90 day single entry Visa.
