If it is a typing error as you indicate maybe you could ask the MODs to edit your original post so that it does read as I think you intended it to read!

Not a Typing error just a failure to encompass all in the first statement. I feel that the rest of the post indicates my personal lack of a belief system remember that atheism is also a belief system often given a structure by 'Humanism' i.e. choosing definitely not to believe when there is no empirical evidence either way (lack of empirical evidence is not evidence of non existence). Changing it would make your subsequent (and valid) correction look stupid.

Thanks for that clarification and I now fully understand your position.

Please accept my apologies for any misunderstanding on my part.

No offence in your beliefs or thought(s) were intended.

:sorry:

“Do you believe in God and why?” I’ve never looked at it, but if I did the only thing I could possibly say would be “No, why should I?”

Back in Blighty a few years ago, we were being continually pestered by Morons  Mormons, and Jehovah's Witnesses, and one Sunday morning after a very late party at my house, I answered the door to a couple of "happy smiling faces" doing their best to convince me that their particular "best friend" was the one for me!

When I said I was a non-believer, they were horrified and said "But you must have believed in God sometime" My reply was "Yes, and I also used to  believe in Santa Claus, and if you don't take your foot off my doorstep, it's liable to get broken when I close the door on it"

That particular "sect" never bothered me again!

That's because all the info about you is stored in a massive database.   Everything you ever said to the morons are in reports.   I dont get bothered anymore after  I told them if you come with me to Las Vegas for 1 day I will listen to you for one day  plus I told them it's so sad you are wasting your 19 th year like this.    Rooster would  make a good FFRF guest  speaker.   Rooster is 3/4 Thai by now but I think he dispenses justice fairly.

asians usually leave out the R             as did Mr Looster

I thought it was going to be the hub of pawn shops!!

I have the same problem. Since pronunciation is different than the spelling (for me). I have to think if falang is spelled with an l or an r. Whoops!

I remember the Jehovah's coming to my door the woman had her small daughter in tow, Do you believe in god ? I asked which one coz every country i have visited has a different one, the poor little girls eyes nearly popped out of head !. Off they went never to be seen again.

Then there was the Mormons always 2 men on bikes suit and ties never saw them with women. OK I asked if there was only Adam and Eve, 2 sons and Cain slew Abel, Cain went to the land of Nod where he begate himself a wife, please explain how that was even possible ? Off they went too never to be seen again.

You'd need a lot of balls for that.

I doubt any teacher can teach about the culture of any civilisation without including the religious aspect. Culture and religion is so firmly entwined its impossible to understand 1 without the other.

So long as its done from an academic stand point then i dont see the problem.

Not sure what there is to teach without the motivations and impact religion has on all cultures.......bit like only teaching victories and ignoring defeats.
