Baby among those killed in Nakhon Ratchasima road accident

A road accident in Nakhon Ratchasima province on Sunday evening killed two people on the spot including a one-year-old baby.

 

Chok Chai police learned that at around 8.30pm a 10-wheeler hit a motorbike injuring 11-year-old Siwa Kaikratong and killing the motorbike rider Anupong Kaikratong, 34, and infant Aswin Kaikratong. Anupong, who worked in a hospital, was related to the two children though at press time the relationship was not specified.

 

Upon interrogation, police found that the truck driver Thongpoon Bueagkuntod, 55, was heading to his wife’s house in Non Sung district. He said he swerved when he saw a car heading out of an alleyway, but did not see the motorbike that was riding alongside his trailer.

 

Police have said they will investigate the case further.

 

Local rescue teams have taken the survivor and the dead bodies to Chok Chai Hospital.

Strange headline.  Two people were killed, but lets get the 'baby' word in for more effect. RIP to both of them.

Tragic.... 

 

If only safety training had been given to the rider. 

Never ride in the blindspot or along side anything, especially a big lorry. 

 

It may not have made a difference, but at least being aware of the risks will save some lives and give people the tools to at least making informed choices when out on the streets - so many hapless people out there on the street innocently ignorant of the risks. 

 

These frequent and tragic accidents which occur due to lack of education and lack of effective Police enforcement could so easily be avoided - the bodies keep building up and its tragic. 

 

What a tragic loss of life, again.

So true Richard,

The main problem here is that the police say it is fine for a motorbike to drive up the inside of vehicles on the left because that is where they are supposed to be. A friend of mine turned left from a main road in his truck. He did not see a motorbike on the inside who was undertaking him, even though he was clearly signalling and already starting to turn. Police blamed my friend and he had to pay out. As per usual bike rider, no helmet, no licence, no insurance. 

R.I.P. to another innocent child, another victim of incompetent parents.

From how i read the report It does not say the bike was on the inside  and if the lorry swerved to avoid a car coming out of a side road it would have been on the outside? No mater what its very sad but also very common.

No amount of training would change anything here, Thais drive with little if any knowledge of what is going on , on the roads, in any event .

Turn with zero indication, pull out indiscriminatly, more than TWO on a motorbike ( no helmets) zero back lights for bikes a huge problem at night. Yet they all know the law BUT chose to ignore it as they ( individually know better )  .

It is sadly an ongoing situation, which will never improve while the RTP do almost NOTHING in enforcing ANY laws.

Nothing so tragic as seeing an innocent infant lying lifeless in the road due to Thai ignorance.
