A 20 year old man called Kittichai told police that he was sitting on the beach near the Pattaya Police Station with his sister when they were accosted by two men who were mat rental vendors.

He said that the vendors said to watch himself as the police would soon arrest them.

When he asked "why would that be?" he said an argument broke out and a chase ensued as he ran off.

The men caught up with him and attacked him with a brick that was lying about.

Rescue workers found Kittichai with a wound and blood coming from his ear. He was rushed to hospital.

Police soon had two men in custody. Neither was armed or had ID.

The attack occurred about 2 am Tuesday after Kittichai finished work and met his sister, a salon worker in Jomtien.

I'm wondering is it best to get a good head-butt or be whacked in the head with a brick ?  Just like the meter maids in U.K. it will soon be a good idea to wear an American-style football helmet when venturing out on the streets ????

Desperate times

Family friendly Pattaya...

Vacation paradise 'sans doute'

Best I start seasoning a bundle in the bank post haste and use the ensuing six months to fathom out how to negotiate all the tedious hoops 'n hurdles

I'm betting that there is more to the story than being told.

At 2am, sitting with his Sister? Sitting or Selling?

Or choose a more welcoming country?

Its not the country, just the nut cases roaming wild

It may be time to fence off the human zoo called Pattaya

Not too many takers for mat rentals at 2 in the morning. I wonder if any other goods were on offer.

Are you suggesting there was a dispute over the price for purchasing the brick?  ????

One more data point...  The best place to be in the wee hours is home asleep.

In other news, a brick rental vendor reported that one of his bricks is missing.

what's the reason for this incredible  anger and rage with Thai vendors, jetski operators, beach vendors, night club door front thugs, headbutting demonstrators?

Do simple misunderstandings always have to end up in emergency room?

TripAdvisor should post a World wide warning about coming to a land where free speech gets you jailed or head-butted.

Most embassies already issue warnings about getting caught up in local protests... they say stay clear !

Trip advisor is about holiday accommodation information not the latest political situation.
