Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has remained aloof to anti-establishment protesters’ plan to gather outside Parliament on Tuesday to follow the proceedings as lawmakers vote on charter amendments.

When asked on Monday about protesters from both sides of the political divide showing up to listen to the decision on charter rewrite, he said he will not be responsible for what happens because security personnel will be on hand to deal with the crowds.

He also said violators of law will be prosecuted as per normal and that he has given no orders on the subject.

As for the Constitutional Court’s pending verdict about him occupying Army quarters after retirement, Prayut said he was not concerned because he has never broken the law. He added that he will let the judiciary do its job and accept the verdict, which is expected on December 2.

  • Enough said. As the (albeit, unelected) prime minister, he is responsible for whatever actions these people take, and should be held accountable when it gets nasty.

  • Of course he remained aloof, silly sod actually believes he is doing a good job, and the people love him..... Poor???????? man is delusional.

He's indifferent to all but getting his snout in the trough and protecting the spoils of the rich!

Many have come and gone before him, each ignoring the obvious, believing they are different and can avoid the inevitable.

Good luck with that

No laws broken at all because he fixed that from happening by changing them, making his residence a guest home, one hopefully he has been paying for, and then giving himself and his cronies amnesty.  How I wish I could have done all that with the business I was the CEO of, but then that would have been like having a complete Monarchial power, where only I could be in charge and if it went down hill, then I just would be able to pick up my bonus and walk away unscathed.  Yet that's not how it works in a democratic society, as had I done the same thing, then prison would have loomed large.  You are held to your sins and hopefully elected out of office, but that is not Thailand.  20 more years to complete his roadmap.

I actually thought there was no need for further comment after

"Prayut is indifferent".

That just about sums him and his ilk up. They simply don't give a toss.

What do you expect when for years people have had to bottle up their frustrations, disappointments and shere distrust of those who rule over them? The lid is slowly coming off and all of this built up resentment is starting to seep out.

Showing the yellow shirts versus the protestors now on the evening news.  Looks like the yellow shirts are actually on the inside of the barriers.  So tell me who is favored here.

Water cannons and tear gas out again.

Hopefully, it does not end with sharpshooters deployed. Definitely a large amount of gas being used, looked like a smoke screen a little bit ago.  Looks like the Senate does not want to budge and wants to retain their seats.  That means that things will not change unfortunately and only a total revolt will have to be undertaken.  Does not look like the military cares to get involved either, maybe given orders by the top dog to stand down.

Those who support are always favored, no matter where. T'is those who oppose who are the "baddies".

Are the police really going to club and batter their own countrymen ?? I don't think so or they would be crazy to do so .   Many of these protesters , young and old have lost their jobs , lost their lively-hoods and used up whatever savings they had - and little help from the government .  Where do they turn to ?   They see all the pomp and splendour and riches of the elite . Such a big divide in this country between those who have and those who have not. The young are the future of the country .Perhaps amendments to the Constitution should be put to a peoples vote ?

Terrible scenes.

But I just love the idea of bringing a giant yellow plastic inflatable duck to face the water canons!

Nothing will annoy the powers that be more than that sort of insolent <deleted> taking ! It deserves to "go viral' worldwide!

Brilliant - well done!

Any news about the colour of the water?

Bullets used now   at least 10 injured.

I love the use of the word "throng" in the headline, rooster just made a fortune in scrabble?

Yeh OK then if you say so. See he's back in uniform again trying to show his authoritarianism

What a silly sod he is indeed,  as are those other minions who try so hard to deny the Thai people proper democratic input. No way the powers that be will support a plan like that of I-iLaw, can't have commoners interfering with the elite...

Yep, ever since he demoted the little fat man watch collector from being the Minister of defense and assumed the position himself, he believes he is not only the PM but also the defacto head of the Military, so why not wear a uniform especially if you still live on base in base housing....
