The Diabetes Association of Thailand found that 4.8 million Thai adults suffer from diabetes and are prone to complications from obesity, but a very small number of cases are diagnosed and treated. As a result, the death rate from diabetes in Thailand is up to 200 people per day and the prevalence of diabetes is projected to rise to 5.3 million by 2040. Poor treatment can lead to complications such as kidney disease and amputation of feet or legs which will have a profound impact on life.
