Yes many retired men in the UK have an income below the one required but would easily be able to live well in Thailand and support a partner. The savings can be used to build a house which is very cheap outside the tourist traps providing local employment rather than sitting doing nothing in a bank. Small people stimulate the economy not the wealthy. It was the volume of ordinary tourists that stimulated the Thai hospitality industry not the few wealthy ones

Obviously the wrong marriage partner. Finding a wife in a hooker bar would be like buying a second hand car from a hire car company, thrashed by hundreds of people with worn out parts and dodgy wiring and too many miles on the clock.

 

The brand new shiny "cars" with zero "mileage",  they keep them for themselves. Thai upper-class men find them in "showrooms" in HiSo-areas in Bangkok. Foreigners are not too welcome there. Better take them to seedy beer-bars in Pattaya.
