hi all, this seems like a common question regarding non immigrant type O visas.

I need some clarification. I am a uk national aged 31 i have just received a 1 Yr visa from the thai consul in hull with out any problems. But it seemed too straight forward as i have read of people have many problems with meeting the requirments. I only stated on my application that I wanted an extended stay to visit friends. No proof was requested on application. Trouble is I am now wondering if i will have problems on arrival.

Bangmatt, you have no cause to worry at all. You will have no problem when entering Thailand. You did exactly the right thing in getting this visa for your extended stay in Thailand.

Upon arrival, your passport will be stamped with a permission to remain in Thailand for 90 days. Check your passport and be sure to leave Thailand not later than the “admitted until” date in that arrival stamp. You can leave and re-enter Thailand as many times as you wish during the validity of your multiple-entry non-O visa and every time you will be admitted for 90 days.

Enjoy your vacation in Thailand!

Hi Bangmatt...I have been travelling to Thailand on a twelve month non-immigrant visa issued from the Thai consulate in Hull for several years now with no problems whatsoever....as long as you do your border run on or before the date stamped on your passport (90 days from date of entry not 3 months) After your last in out you can do one more border run not less than five days before the "must be utilized"date stamped on your visa issued by Hull....this effectivly gives you a permitted stay of nearly fifteen months...after that you have four options

3x30 day tourist visa runs (followed by exit from Thailand for 90 days)

Exit from Thailand to Vientien (Laos) Pnom Phenn (Cambodia) Penang (Malasia)etc etc etc to obtain 60 day "0" visa

return to England to obtain new 12 month multiple "0" visa

change your multiple "0" to an extended stay (commonly incorrectly refered to as a retirment visa)

Just one word of advice from an old fart...don't listen to too much you hear from the Pattaya bar beer experts...there are many...if there is any thing you are unsure of get it from the horses mouth at the immigration office Jontiem soi five or give the attach'e to the British Embassy Barry Kenyon a call who will be pleased to help you...his number is 0817827363. In my experience problems only occure when you try bending rules or telling the officials rather than asking them

good luck and enjoy you stay
