Legal hurdle blocks transfer of state-run airports to AOT

A plan to transfer airports run by the Department of Airports (DOA) to Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) would have to be shelved as there was no law allowing the transfer of government-run airports to a public company, AOT president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said on Monday.

Construction of key transport hub Bang Sue Central Station completed

Civil construction of Bang Sue Central Station, which will serve as the hub of high-speed train connecting three airports (Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao), as well as the 10 stations of the Red Line urban train route, is now 100 per cent complete.

(Reuters) - U.S. Women's Open champion Kim A Lim likes the Champions Golf Club venue so much she said she wants to put up a tent and stay a few more days. With two weeks quarantine awaiting her back in South Korea it is no surprise she is reluctant to leave Houston.

Phuket’s Sirinath among six national parks to be proposed for World Heritage status

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Government and officers at Sirinath National Park are preparing to propose six national parks along the Andaman coast to be recognised as UNESCO world heritage sites, including Sirinath National Park in Phuket.

Suan Dusit Poll - Chiang Mai favorite travel destination among Thai people for New Year festival

BANGKOK (NNT) - It is expected that a large number of people will travel during the New Year holidays, from December 31, 2020, to January 3, 2021. Suan Dusit poll conducted a survey which found that most popular destinations are in the North and everyone will travel cautiously in terms of spending and the COVID-19 situation.

One foreign diver deported, one clings on after Koh Pha-ngan eco assault

Immigration authorities have deported one of the two foreign divers who disturbed marine animals off Koh Pha-ngan in Surat Thani province in August. The other has appealed to stay on in Thailand.

Chula U to raise 500 million baht for factory to produce Thailand’s COVID-19 vaccine

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Nearly half of Singapore's migrant workers residing in dormitories have had COVID-19, according to the government, indicating the virus spread much more widely among those living in these accommodations than the official case tally shows.

Facebook, Twitter face British fines if fail on harmful content

LONDON (Reuters) - COVID-19 cases rose in London during the last weeks of a national lockdown even as prevalence in England as a whole fell, a study said on Tuesday, adding that a planned relaxation of rules over Christmas posed risks.

No Ban on New Year Celebrations, Countdown Events

BANGKOK, Dec 15 (TNA) –  New Year celebrations and countdown events will be allowed to proceed  but organisers and revelers have to adhere to strict rules, said Opas Karnkawinpong, the Director-General of the Department of Disease Control (DDC).
