Family of accident victim say surgery was performed without their consent - signature was a fake

A distraught family of a young man who has died after an accident claimed that a government hospital in Samut Prakan faked a signature on a surgery consent form. 

 

Adisorn, 22, died yesterday and his body is in the morgue awaiting an autopsy. 

 

His father Adul, 54, said that on December 7th his son had an accident that ruptured his intestines in four places and broke his legs. 

 

He signed consent forms for surgery on the intestines.

 

The surgery was a success and his son was recovering in a general ward and talking normally. 

 

Surgery on the legs was delayed due to the absence of an orthopedic surgeon on the long weekend. 

 

However, his son took a turn for the worse and was hurried into surgery on his legs on Monday afternoon. 

 

Within fifteen minutes he had stopped breathing and was soon pronounced dead.

 

Adul said he had not given permission for the surgery and a document showed that his signature had been faked. 

 

Mother Sompen said that her son looked like he was well on the way to recovery.

 

The family are demanding an investigation.

Well if he was well on the way to recovery I highly doubt they would have had to rush him there and then into surgery ! Possibly blood clot or blood poisoning from his leg injuries was cause of sudden change .

Surely you don't need a signature in this kind of circumstance? So why forge one?

Well, sometimes surgeries are needed immediately and there’s no time to wait for anyone’s consent if you want to save that life. Therefore I’m not surprised they went ahead with it, but forging the signature is major no-go.

Sounds like a 200KG bar girl type of accident to me
