It's strange that they've decided to go down this route of allowing the virus to spread en masse all over the country.

Still, what do I care, it's their country - they can do what they want.

Trouble is Prayut stated there won't be a lockdown a week ago. Now there dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. The question remains will he have egg on his face anytime soon while people still remember what he said. Looks to me as if they will let the pandemic rage rather than upset the big man.

Blame the people when the problem as always been with the leaders. Payoff at the borders have always been a common problem with or without the virus it was a matter of time before a number got through now that it has gotten through only a hint of finding the guilty one's instead deflect the real problem but he is a bit right better be more careful.????

No one allowed it, it happened. You perhaps can put blame on those who allegedly allowed large numbers of untested immigrants enter the country I suppose but not the government as a whole.

we hear of clusters and outbreaks, must be dealt with so how does allowing huge nos of people travel do that, free hiway tolls etc.rayongs locked down.corruption and lies are the root cause behind this, the people bribing their way over the northern border, the gambling in a country where the law says its not possible and the abuse of the immigrant worker leads to a mass outbreak in the slave districts.kharma?sounds like it.what of the economy it will crash more and no govt support for people or small business.buy vaccs.the moneys there, use the sub money or.......well we all know

Sorry to say, Thailand stuck its head in the sand thinking they didn't have a virus problem and become complacent, decided not to mass test for the virus, instead waited for people to get sick, only problem is that 90% or more of cases are Asymptomatic and don't realize that they have the virus, so carry on as normal and spread it everywhere.

It seems some countries just don't get it. The country is already in an Economic mess and doesn't need a second wave to hit.

A little insight to the reality of  vaccine availability. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-03370-6

Excellent article. Clearly why Thailand has both partnered with AstraZenica to manufacture and is developing their own.

But on that chart, would you really want a vaccine named Wuhan?

Dr Taweesilp urged people to refrain from socialising in order for the number of new cases to “run flat” rather than spike.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen voluntarily over new year.

Even with places closed families will join together, or with close friends and that's enough to spark it all off again.

I suspect mid-January we will see the numbers & areas increasing substantially.

Well. if they're that scared then why on earth haven't they cancelled all New Year parties and travel, instead of just a few headline events? The messages here are becoming as mixed and muddled as they are back in the UK, and look what a mess things are there. The government shouldn't be asking people to follow the rules, it should be forcing them to, as it did back in April. Come on, Prayut, have you lost your mojo?

If you haven't noticed, it seems that each government organization doesn't coordinate with the others. They work at cross purposes. You would think a General would be good at coordinating action. Or at least hope so.

Just like one group woos tourists, another creates obstacles to tourism.

Your government at work.

Vaccines are no where in sight in Thailand. Procuring them takes a little foresight, and kudos to Vietnam on having some of that.

But at least Thailand has submarines on the way, and the world's most expensive flying toilet.

8 months later there is a different perspective. There is still time for a lockdown and other containment strategies. Not everyone believes in blanket lockdowns but here we know when given government directions the people will cooperate unlike the UK and USA.

Fact is if it spreads it proves they arent 'cooperating '

Just like every other country in the world.

Nobody ever gets it right all of the time but Thailand has a better track record with covid than most.

At the end of the day the real responsibility lies with people, after 9 months no one can say they don't know what is required, they shouldn't need the government to force them into anything.

Is Temperature checking really very effective at finding the infected?
Yesterday I had my temperature checked 4 times whilst driving around some Amphur's have set up road checkpoints to measure

everyone's temp going into there district. If every Amphur did that it would make traveling around very laborious.

Effectively reducing the number of people on the roads and forcing them to stay home. GOOD.
