Governors told to prepare provincial field hospitals for worst case scenario

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has instructed all provincial administrations to prepare for the setting up of field hospitals in the worst case scenario, where hospitals become overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, said CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin.

BANGKOK (Reuters) -Thailand's economic outlook would be substantially affected by a surge in coronavirus cases, minutes of the central bank's last policy meeting showed on Wednesday, as the Bank of Thailand (BOT) saw a need to preserve limited policy room.

China notifies Mekong River neighbours it is holding back waters

BANGKOK (Reuters) - China has notified downstream neighbours it is holding back the Mekong River flow at a hydropower dam on the waterway's upper reaches for 20 days, as part of a new data-sharing pact, the Mekong River Commission (MRC) and Thailand said on Wednesday.

Deputy PM Anutin: Plans adjusted to receive COVID-19 vaccine sooner

BANGKOK (NNT) - The first lot of 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be given to high-risk groups, including physicians, nurses and other health workers. Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health, Anutin Charnvirakul, says the government has to be sure the vaccine is safe and effective before it can be administered.
