Hi all,

I'm applying for the Tourist Visa online on http://thaievisa.go.th

On page 3, it's asking me for the hotels where I'll be staying in Thailand.

Should I include the ASQ hotel??? Or just the ones where I will be post-quarantine?

I am confused, because I thought I only needed to submit proof of ASQ booking for the Certificate of Entry.

I haven't booked the ASQ hotel yet, as I read here that one needs to have the visa approved first in order to submit the application for the COE.

Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you ????

I ran into the same problem last night.  I did not complete the application because I was not sure.  I also have not booked my ASQ hotel.  I hope someone will point us in the right direction.

It also tells you on the e-visa site to check the requirements for your Visa application on the Embassy website.

From memory, you need confirmed flight and ASQ hotel accommodation, Covid 19 Insurance 100,000 USD and certainly for the Non O/O-A/O-X  Visa the mandatory 400/40 Health Insurance cover.

My embassy website says:

For Tourist Visa application, submit evidence of travel booking, flight booking, proof of finances (bank statements), passport details and travel dates.

For COE: Proof of visa, flight details, travel/health insurance that covers Covid, ASQ hotel booking confirmation

But on page 3 of the Tourist Visa application form, it asks me to list the hotel booking(s). Since my trip in Thailand will start in that ASQ hotel, I presume I should write it in the visa application?!  But the embassy website does not list ASQ booking as a requirement for a Tourist Visa...  ????

Do include your ASQ booking, they need that.

Also include your address/info for stay after ASQ. I just listed the address of my condo in Phuket, there is no booking confirmation as I own it.This address is not verifiable to them in any way, so I think it's just a case of a question on the application that needs to be filled in, but anything is acceptable. Also, FWIW, the ASQ requested an address for my stay after leaving ASQ, and I provided them the same home address. I think it's the same question that has been on the TR application for years, and I've never heard of it being checked, or visa denied because of it.

You might just make a cancelable booking on Agoda or something and use that address/info for the application and then cancel as soon as you have the visa in hand. Do expect though to be asked for this information again by your ASQ hotel. I think it is a requirement for them related to the certificate of ASQ completion you will be issued at checkout. The visa application has always asked for information about where you're going to stay, most people just list their first hotel and leave it at that.

In short, not a big deal.

If using the evisa site you only have to show intended flight booking including flight number and intended ASQ hotel. All you do is take a screenshot photo on your phone and upload that. Some people on here are getting confused with the COE. For Stage 1 Passport, visa (if not going Visa Exempt) and $100k Covid Insurance. Stage 2 Confirmed ASQ and flight bookings.

No, you don’t need to have your hotel booked in advance or I didn’t. I got a tourist visa from U.K. which needs you to apply on that site. I just took a screenshot of intended hotel with a note saying I’d book once ready for COE (did same with flight).

I still haven’t booked the hotel yet as U.K. brought in another lockdown after I applied so booking after you get your visa is safer.

At what point did you have to provide the 400/40K Health Insurance policy

That is not needed for a tourist visa application.

What about for the COE, or again is that only for a Non Imm type.

It is only needed for a STV or OA/OX visa or a new non-o visa based upon retirement application.

Exactly as I understood it from the London website.

However what I don't get is the Non O Visa is identical whether applied for based on marriage or retirement.

When applying for the COE how do they know whether you applied for the Non O based on marriage or retirement and whether the Health Insurance applies or not.

Have they started putting a notation on the Visa?

Maimee and the others,

Where are you guys from or which Th embassy are you talking about in applying your tourist visas?

My US address is in New Mexico, placing me under the umbrella of the LA Consulate, and that is who I was dealing with. I found them communicative, and responsive to emails, especially as I had to change flights after I had applied for the COE. They got right back to me and gave me a link to edit my application with the new flight information and confirmation... very professional.

Even prior to Corona the hitel question was asked. Just put the hotel where you will stay. Consulate in the country I'm in asked for copy of reservation.

To get the COE you have to upload your Non O visa. It will say retirement or marriage/family on it

Thanks so much for that.

I ended up booking my ASQ hotel through Agoda and amazingly I am allowed to cancel free of charge until 1 day before check-in, which is soooo nice. Most other ASQ hotels I had contacted were demanding full payment upfront ????

So I did submit evidence of my ASQ hotel booking (plus additional hotels/resorts I've booked with free cancellation) for my Tourist Visa application. Should be fine.

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments. ????

Hope you are having a comfortable quarantine, @Mai mee

Well... The room is awesome and large, but the food is, well, acceptable... but it's only for two weeks and in less than a week, I'll back home to Phuket. That's the price of entry 555!

I'll take it

I'm just SO glad to be done with all the cr@p it took to get here. Sounds like you're doing a good job of chopping your way through the bureaucratic jungle of Thai entry. The TVF forums were invaluable to me for exchanging current information with others going through the process, and others who have made it to the other side. It's really a unique and valuable resource for those of us who like tilting at windmills.

A person married to a Thai would be applying for a COE based upon being a part of a Thai family and would be submitting a marriage certificate and etc a proof.

There was no need to provide this type of Health Insurance policy during the visa, COE issuing processes. The only requirement was for the $ 100,000 virus insurance policy. This was confirmed upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi airport yesterday, when they required only the virus insurance policy.
