Thundershowers and strong winds forecast for the South

Cool weather with light morning fog is forecast for upper Thailand as the moderate high-pressure system over the Northeast, the Central, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East is weakening.

 

 

People should watch their health due to the changeable weather conditions, the Thailand Meteorological Department said on Sunday.

 

The northeast monsoon across the Gulf and the South will strengthen with more rain likely. Moderate winds will trigger waves up about two metres high from Songkhla province passing south and more than two metres high during thundershowers.

 

The westerly trough covers northern Thailand. Isolated thundershowers with gusty winds are likely in the early stages after a decrease in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius.

 

The 24-hour weather forecast for different regions:

 

North: Cool with isolated thundershowers and gusty winds; temperature drops 2-3°C mostly in Lampang, Chiang Rai, Phayao and Nan provinces; minimum temperature 16-20°C, maximum 28-33°C; cold to very cold on mountaintops with minimum temperature 3-13°C; southerly winds 5-15kph.

 

Northeast: Cool to cold morning with light fog; minimum temperature 15-19°C, maximum 28-32°C; cold on mountaintops with minimum temperature 8-12°C; northeasterly winds 15-30kph.

 

Central: Cool morning with light fog; minimum temperature 19-22°C, maximum 32-33°C; northeasterly winds 10-25kph.

 

East: Cool morning with light fog; minimum temperature 21-23°C, maximum 30-33°C; northeasterly winds 15-35kph; waves about a metre high and 1-2 metres offshore.

 

South (east Coast): Partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers mostly in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces; minimum temperature 22-25°C, maximum 29-33°C.

 

Nakhon Si Thammarat northward: Northeasterly winds 15-35kph; waves 1-2 metres high and about two metres in thundershowers.

 

Songkhla southward: Northeasterly winds 20-35kph; waves about two metres high and above two metres during thundershowers.

 

South (west coast): Partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers mostly in Krabi, Trang and Satun provinces; minimum temperature 21-25°C, maximum 32-34°C; northeasterly winds 15-30kph; waves about a metre high and 1-2 metres offshore.

 

Bangkok and nearby areas: Cool morning with light fog; minimum temperature 21-24°C, maximum 31-33°C; northeasterly winds 10-25kph.
