webfact
Department of Health urges BTS commuters to wear masks BANGKOK (NNT) - The Department of Health has launched a campaign urging BTS skytrain passengers to wear face masks at all times and wash their hands frequently. Director-General of the Department of Health Doctor Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai and BTS Chief Operating Officer Mr. Sumit Srisantitham, together launched the campaign to stay safe from COVID-19 on the BTS Skytrain system and gave free hand sanitizers to passengers. According to the statistics, mass transit systems are among the places where people are likely to get infected as they are often crowded. The Health Department’s Director-General revealed that a survey between January 23 and February 1, found that 96.5% of citizens wore masks. However, only 77.6% wore a mask at all times in pubic areas, much lower than the standard 85%. The department then reminded the public of the measures and campaigned with passengers to put on a mask at all times, and frequently wash their hands. At the same time, transport workers must also be stringent with the rules and follow the same measures as well. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-02-05 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Patanawet
I don't understand -- since March, I've only once ever seen someone without a mask (and he was accompanied by a BTS staff member). What I do find strange is that they announce sanitization gel at all stations. But nearly always at the 'in' turnstiles. I would like to see it also at the exits after holding onto escalator rails, straps and stanions (whatever they are). Personally, I try to stand balancing touching nothing.
brewsterbudgen
Very strange. I don't think I've ever seen someone using the BTS without a mask since April!
Mike Rodik
very nice, but is there any science that shows this paper mask stops the spread from healthy people ? for sick people, sure ... but I see nasties taking off the mask, sneezing and putting it back on...
