Have been looking at the Covid19 insurance offered by the Thai General Insurance Association - https://covid19.tgia.org/

When you go in to the website to buy it, it asks you Country Of Origin, Status, Date of Arrival, and Period Of Coverage. A few questions about this;

[1] By your  'Country Of Origin', do they mean where do you come from (ie your nationality), or which country you are flying in from ?

[2] Under 'Status' it lists various options including Tourist Visa, but there is no option for 'Visa Exempt'. Ordinarily I would just select Tourist Visa but I want to check first in case for some inane reason it is not valid with Visa Exempt and then I have problems later trying to get the COE. Also, the coverage gives 30 and 60 day options, but no 45 day options.

[3] I assume also that the period of coverage should also cover the ASQ period. With that in mind, you would expect there to be a 45 day coverage option.

[4] Alternatively, if anyone can suggest/recommend a better/cheaper insurance option than this one, please advise.

Thanks

1. The country you are starting your trip from.

2. It is on the drop menu. Maybe you missed it.

3. You would have to choose 60 days since your permit to stay will be 45 days.

Thanks for the reply. Can I just confirm you are using the link that I posted ? I am not getting that option. (See attached image)

Sorry went to wrong site. It has been a long day.

Your only choice on that site is a the tourist visa.

I used the tourist visa option and chose 60 days.

I am arriving on a visa exempt as well.

COE has been approved with this!

I only wonder if the insurance will complain in case of a positive PCR test during quarantine. And unfortunately, I could not find out if this insurance covers hospital fees for asymptomatic cases.

I hope my tests will all be negative so it won't come to this.

If you have insurance from the TGIA site it will cover you if you test positive.

Then i don't understand why everyone does not simply get this insurance. Cheaper than other insurances and accepted for COE.

Did you arrive on a one way flight?

Not true...have you compared rates? They are based on countries COVID experience...

For example...

If from the UK or USA..

Three months of COVID ONLY insurance is 12,160 Thai baht.

If you buy real health insurance like LUMA Pass Thailand US $100,000 health, accident and COVID insurance which pays for any COVID POSITIVE medical care WITH or WITHOUT symptoms.

Three months costs 8,000 Thai baht.

Why would you pay more?

Travelerjim: I clicked on your link and saw the same 3-month charge I saw a month ago - 12,160 baht. so where is the 8,000 baht charge?

Also, is it possible to get a $50,000 COVID-19 3-month policy? I already have a $50,000 policy for that virus with my U.S. insurance company and my simple math says 1 + 1 = $100,000
