A traffic incident leads to three being shot dead

Featured Replies

What began as a small dispute about driving led to bloodshed last night as three people were shot to death by a tuk tuk driver. The incident happened in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district in front of a mobile phone shop at around 7:30 in the evening, as people all over the capital were celebrating the first day of Chinese New Year.

The first victim was identified as Po Sophy, the second Si Deth, and the third was unidentified. According to the sources who witnessed the occurrence, before the shooting, the suspect, a tuk tuk driver, had had an argument with a man for refusing to move his car to the side for his tuk tuk to go during a traffic congestion.

The sources say after the argument, the suspect and a gang on several motorcycles came back to the scene while the car owner was sitting with the victims drinking in front of the mobile phone shop. The suspect then suddenly took a gun from a member of the gang and opened fires on the victims, hitting three of them, and then drove away from the scene with his accomplices.
