Thung Kru police, forensics and rescue services were called to a three story townhouse in Bangkok yesterday after reports that a man had been stabbed.

The wife claims her depressed husband stabbed himself to death - police have their doubts.

On the ground floor of the house in Pracha-uthit Soi 123 investigators found a broken metal chair and lots of blood.

In a room on the mezzanine floor between the ground floor and the second floor in a bedroom they found the body of 31 year old Jittichai against a wall.

He had a 15 inch kitchen knife sticking out of the left side of his chest.

His wife, Wan, 38, said they came to rent the property just four months ago intending to use it as a base for a food delivery business.

She said her husband suffered from depression and she was a victim of frequent incidents of domestic abuse at his hands.

Prior to the incident a relative of hers called Kawinna, 24, had arrived. She said her husband blamed her for being the cause of trouble in the family and he attacked her with a metal chair causing a lot of blood.

Hearing the commotion she said that she rushed down and met her husband coming up the stairs. She claimed that he kicked her down the stairs and she fell to the ground floor bashing her chin.

He then announced "I will die today".

Then he went to the second floor, got the kitchen knife and stabbed himself, she said.

Pol Lt-Col Suwat Ongtong said it could have been suicide but investigators have their doubts.

A full forensic analysis of the scene including DNA and fingerprints on the knife is being carried out.

Poh Teck Tung foundation took the body away for an autopsy.

No mention was made of the relative's testimony, if any, in the Daily News story, notes Thaivisa.
